Also where does everyone order their chicks and supplies? At a decent price?

Depends on what you want them for. If you just want egg layers any of the big hatcheries are ok on the thread some like ideal and some like mcmurry. If you want show or breeding stock the you look for smaller breeders some on this site have different breeds for sale.

Chicks can be shipped. I don't. Mind going to Baton Rouge I get clay and glaze there. But as I said it would be in the future. I may go check the feed store where I got my gold ones and see what they have. Pam

I know chicks can be shipped, I just find it a little easier to pick them up and be able to see them before I pay for them. I guess I'm just scared of them being DOA, especially with long trips. I know it happens and there isn't much you can do it just scares me. I cried because I ordered some silver laced wyandottes and the day after I picked them up I could tell 2 of them were sick. They didn't make it through the night. It just broke my heart that I waited so long for them and paid so much that I didn't get to enjoy them. Out of 4 I only have 1 left.

To spell check, look on the screen with all your "options" (to add pictures, etc.) It will be the button with an ABC and a check mark under it. (At least that's how it shows up on my screen). Click that and spell check away! LOL...

Classes finishing up and then I have to complete online portion. Take exams and then register for state exam. I think it's mostly making the time to do it and psychological on my part. I HATE tests!!! However, I have to have a good attitude so that I set a good example for my boys. Also, what if I have to tell them I FAILED the test?!?!????

My husband laughs...He says, "Have you MET some of the people that have passed the test?" He thinks I'm being silly. I think he's being a bit of a turd!...

He's having way too much fun at my expense.

If you end up looking at hatchery, I had great success with www.mypetchicken.com I had ordered around 12-14, can't remember exact number and they sent 17. I lost one a couple of days after I received them. If you get their emails and aren't in dire need of chicks right now, they often have hatch day specials when they have too many of one breed. My silver laced and golden laced wyandottes from there are great. Good personalities and great layers.

Idealpoultry.com has free shipping with good prices and good stock for hatcheries. Small local feed stores and feed mills have the best prices and variety on feed and supplies. I like strombergschickens.com for the feeders and waterers. Recommended by the chicken whisper for vet supplies and offered in smaller quantities: http://www.firststatevetsupply.com/store2/ If you need hardware cloth it is by far the cheapest on wayfair.com and they have free 2 day shipping. Really you have to shop around a little.

We have faith that you will pass your test! If by some off chance that your anxiety gets to you and you fail then you tell your boys you failed but you are not done. Success requires failure somewhere so you just get back up and try that test again!. Really though, we all are rooting for you to pass!

Wow I'm sorry to hear that. Most hatcheries will replace or refund any. dOA if they don't I wouldn't buy from them. I'll let you know if they have them at my feed store if they do you can tell me what you want and when I go to Baton Rouge you could meet me or sometimes we can relay chicks if it's somewhere other la-yers go to. Have you checked your feed and seed or the ones in Baton Rouge ? The waynddott Angelisi has came from feed store in Baton Rouge.

Also they do have insurance on them so if they are DOA or are sick they will replace them for me. They can order the ducks I'm wanting as well! And you are right I have quit dealing with that company. They have done this to me more than once. I told them until they changed hatcheries they would not be getting my business.

I have no doubt in my mind you will ace it. If you didn't pass( which I can't imagine I know your over preparing) the best example you could give your boy is if first you don't sucre try until you pass or in horse lingo if you fall off get up and get right back on. Once you pass you can tell hubby you'll be keeping those commissions for yourself. Lol!
