It's not like I didn't see the signs coming. I've been cut back to part time once before & it lasted about 2 months. I'm OK with it for now. If not, hey, I know how to punch a cash register!

I'm raising Blue Orpingtons, Ameracaunas, & the new chicks are Welsummers so now I'm back into Welsummers if I hatched a roo! Who would ever think to HOPE for a rooster?!

lol i hoped for none and got 3 outta five chicks lol

Ok so today I bought some Sulmet (Antibacterial) to treat all my chickens, just as a preventive maintenace.. How long do I wait to start eating the eggs again after I treat them. On the resiue warning it say "To avoid drug residues in edible flesh, withdraw medication from chickens and turkeys 10 days prior to slaughtered for food." Would yall say 10 days for the eggs too?

Buff Orpingtons, Rhode Island Reds, Black Australorps, Cornonation Sussex, Light Sussex/Coronation Sussex Splits, Silver Sussex, Blue Laced Red Wyandottes, Silver Laced Wyandottes (maybe waiting on three chick orders) , Pheasants, Sebastopol Geese.

I will have lots of Buff Orpingtons, Rhode Island Reds, Black Australorps, and a few Light Sussex/Coronation Sussex Splits to sell off in early fall if anyone is interested.

Howdy ,
I use Sulmet to , I would wait at least 10 days before i ate any eggs . I also put 1 tsp of Apple Cider Vinegar in all my birds water , bad bacteria and stuff don't like a slightly more acidic gut . There are several medicines i use and Sulmet is a good one . Don't put the Apple cider vinegar in the water while using the Sulmet .

Thanks for the info, perfect Im about to go on vacation so instead of having my father-inlaw save my eggs for me I will tell him just to chunk them. For the last week I have been putting white vinegar in there water to help green algea.

Are you treating for salmonella ? I put 1tsp of Apple Cider vinegar per 1 gallon of water everyday . Novalsan is a good dis-infectant to spray around the coop and dropping areas . Do you a have a mice or roach problem , as you know they carry salmonella . Sulmet is good to use a couple of times a year as a prevent .

Novalsan is mixed 1tsp per gallon and I use a sprayer , again as a prevent and keep any pathogens down . You can even spray your waterers and feeders with it , some pigeon breeders use a small amount in the drinking water . It can be used like that . Novalsan is not a treatment for Salmonella though . I spray my lofts , coops and fly pens with it .

Not treating for anything preticular. I will have to get me some Novalsan then, yea I do have alot of roaches at my shop around coops and pens. I wonder if Permethrin is safe for around chickens for misquitos and mites.

I use permethrin too . Make sure all feed is cleaned up before you spray . Try clothes dryer sheets stuffed in your wire at intervals and that should keep the mosquitos down . Sevin dust is good to dust your birds with for mites , as a pigeon fancier we have bath salts and other things that we can put in their bath water to keep mites under control . I have permethrin 10% that I can mix with water and hand dunk my pigeons in it . Just up to their necks . I can't let them bath in it because they will drink it and it will kill them . Yes you can but be careful with it . Spay the coop and run and poop areas and put sevin on the birds . Some breeders use sevin just for that reason . Just keep it away from their eyes and nostrils while applying it .
