"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

Another hot tired day. I thought I had priced and organized everything when Amanda pointed out another box of stuff. I just put a sign on the box: " I'm tired. Everything in this box $1 or less. Dig for a treasure. My loss your gain. ".
So sad about dead babies. Many hugs to you guys. I hope the 51 survivors continue to survive, Angel.
Kuntrygirl, you should finally be getting more coupons. The envelope came back THREE times even after mailing at the Post Office.
Terri, happy for your work break. Hugs to your sweet pup.
Mcm. Glad you found someone to check on your chicks daily. Like Kuntrygirl, I'll keep my fingers crossed.
My sweet Ametcaunas are feeling the heat and it hasn't really started yet. Lots of cold water Mellon coming their way.
I can't wait for this garage sale to be over. Jipus, it's back on for tomorrow. I do think this is my last one, for sure in the summer. I said that last time. Lol

I'm so nervous about the heat lamp and I probably won't sleep much tonight. It makes the floor next to the brooder so hot! We are currently trying to figure out ways to rig it up.

This morning our broody has her first 2 babies hatched out and getting dry. She only has a few eggs and its her first time. So far so good

We found this egg yesterday from one of our egg artists. This one is sort of creepy looking considering the hen that laid this is one of the ones being given wormer

You only need a 60 watt bulb unless you keep your house freezing cold, the chicks only need to be around 95/96 to be ok, if the floor is getting hot, think how hot the chicks are getting. put a thermometer in the area where your chicks are to find the ambient temp. of their area.

I do have a thermometer and it was reading just under 90. I got up in the middle of the night to check on them and they were all at the very back, like they were trying to get away from the heat. So I rigged up a chair and attached the lamp further away. They are all happy now. :) I will look for a cooler bulb, like you said. This is just one I bought from Tractor Supply.

A couple of the fluffy butts. There is another damp black one tucked up under Frizz.

Anytime there are new fluffy butts you just can't help thinking how cute they are. Even if they are mini chicken dinners

Good deal, glad you are paying attention and applying fix's, like I said in an earlier post, you are going to be a good chicken mother, my concern was that if the floor was getting that hot, what was happening to your chicks

Will be staying in OK for a few days.

My CX are destined for the table from day one and I still love them, their cuteness, sharing Kodak moments with the kids and such. Babies this cute warn just about any heart

Did any of the new ones make it? My computer has been on and off for several days. Since it's getting so hot, I might just wait for Sept and order again. I still have the 2 dozen different kinds in the incubator. Not planning on the 13 SBEL's because of 1 day heat spike. But the candler I ordered came in and I still can't see a thing. There is a good size air pocket but sometimes I think I see veins and other times I think it's wishful thinking.

Not sure what to do on the ending of this. They are 9 days different. Should I just leave the 1st set in the incubator tilting even past the 18 day lockdown or should I get all out and remove the turner put in egg cartons and manually turn the 2nd set for the last few days. I'll still have to open the incubator 2-3 times a day. What's best?
