"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

I dont believe sprouted seeds are bad. I just had a memory of a specific seed, though not sure! I'd love to use bird seed.
I used the bird seed bec I knew it would sprout and there were no chemicals in it. I tried to find other but couldn't. Milo is listed first, then millet followed by wheat then sunflower seed, but it doesn't give percentages. So the green sprout of millet is bad for them? The first thing they do in the morning when they get out of their coops is go eat some greens. They had watermelon today, but I bought them some cantaloupes today for the worming effect. I don't think they have worms, but just in case. BTW, how can you tell if they have worms?

Shipping in the summer is excruciating on the chicks, especially to Louisiana. I had ordered 30 chicks about a year ago, and the shipment weakened them so much they caught something within days of arrival. They developed horrible, pus filled boils and slowly died off. I only had three chicks survive, and they are extremely stunted, with one having severe neurological problems. They are the size of three month old chicks. I've never had a sick bird on my place before or since, so I firmly believe it was from shipping in the heat. Living in LA, I wouldn't want any chicks that have been shipped from late May/ early June, through late august. I'm sorry to hear about your birds!

I AM SO EXCITED!!!!! I got my first 3 eggs today.

What kind do you have? Congrats. I have my first ever eggs hatching. These are Super Blue Egg Layers from dmrippy. Two so far and a little pipping. We'll see. I've ordered another doz sending out tomorrow. $12 +$12 shipping. Coming from tn I think. Packaging was outstanding.
