If I put a bar across the middle to make a point so that the water rolls down like a regular roof, how many inches would it need to be? Could I get away with just a few inches?

Thanks! I'm thinking we will just put a 2x4 with the tall side up and put it across.

We did the exact same thing for the same setup, and the only thing I recommend is to make your tarp very taut. The 2x4 will just give you two sags in the tarp instead of one if it isn't right. Of course two smaller depressions are much easier to empty than one large one.

I sure don't. We have a plastic tarp over the top, with a 2x4 down the middle. It's one of those blue tarps, not the slightly transparent kind you have. We stretched the tarp as tight as possible, then zip tied it to the pen through the rings on the tarp. It's pretty taut, but I still occasionally have to push water out if it rains very heavily.

I think I'm a workaholic.

I love the feeling after a super productive day at the barn, and today was just that. I had an exam this morning (aced it!), ran to TSC, picked up some various things, then ran to the barn and cleaned up a horse until she was spotless. Nothing like sparkling white on a paint horse to make you feel accomplished. Of course the person I was expecting to come by never showed, and the whole bath/grooming was a waste, but I still have one pretty mare walking around the pasture. Plus she had bad bathing manners and we worked on that for a while. Then I mowed EVERYTHING. And I mean everything. Not to mention the weed eating that went with it. The place is immaculate. I did 5 hours of mowing/ weed eating.

We had a new calf born that we'd been waiting on for a while. Then a couple came by to take their engagement pictures with their horse at the barn, so sweaty dirty me helped with the horse aspect by keeping him bright eyed and perky. I got to sit back and relax with one of my dogs on the fresh cut grass after they left, which I really enjoyed. She goofed off with some hoof trimmings, which is her absolute favorite treat. It was a pleasant surprise because she is normally a pretty serious dog. I checked on all my birds, took some photos, and fed/watered everyone. I get to wake up tomorrow bright and early to work cattle, so here's hoping the weather is nice! All in all, I think it will be a great weakend.

We have two lids. We bought a regular roof for the kennel, which we discovered is made from a fabric similar to a trampoline and doesn't keep the rain out! So I went and bought a regular tarp and put it on top of it to keep the girls dry and to give them more shade. The rain accumulated on the regular tarp part and it completely stretched out the original cover under it. My husband thinks we can just cut some slits in the tarp part and it will prevent accumulation. Is that enough?

One of our hoop coops has a tarp roof high point 3 inches higher than next set of bars, tarp pulled over this frame and anchored. Rain still pools in the spaces seen. You'd *think* water would pour right off the hoop shape no? I did. :gig

This coop we used a tarp roof. Tilted whole roof a lil bit, Pulled tarp taught and stapled down. No water pools, runs right off.
