How big of a pond did you dig? What size black tubs do you have?

I think it is about 3/4 of an acre or so. We dug it a couple of months ago.

The tub that we use is similar to this one, but it is oval. It is a larger than the one in the link.

We also use these . They are not quite as sturdy, but seem to be holding up well so far. We have only had them for about 4 months, so I can't say for sure how long they will last.

The ones we use look like this , but I can't seem to find them on the TSC website.

I haven't bought the vaccine yet but I believe it would be through a vet. You would vaccinate all of your chickens. I believe you can vaccinate one day old birds as well. Check the directions or ask the vet. As for vaccinating the birds while they are infected I don't know. But like Kuntrygirl said, once they get fowlpox they are immune to the disease for the rest of their lives but they will be carriers of it from then on.

There is a vaccine at Jefferslivestock.com called Chick-N-Pox TC and Poxine. But vaccinating your birds that already have fowl pox it is a waste of money and useless. Once they have it, you cannot do anything about it. The vaccine will not help the virus go away or speed up the healing process. It will go away on it's own. I know that this is new to you, so don't be alarmed. I have first hand experience with this and it's not as bad as you think.

3/4 of an acre is not a pond. That is a bayou!!!!

The pond that I want can be dug in about 3 hours. Not big at all.

The blue kiddie pools that I buy usually last 2 years. I get so tired emptying them out all the time.

Terri, my peas are honking up a storm. I'm not sure about when they really start making their pea sounds when they get older. The boys are displaying for the girls and the girls are looking at themselves in the mirror. It's hilarious out there in the aviary. They all seem to be happy as a lark.

Well it's more like a huge crater right now!

I always hated trying to dump out those blue pools. They are such a pain! And the geese really dirt them up fast

Hey everyone! I have a cabinet incubator that I am selling if anyone is interested. I bought it a few months ago and it works great, but I am wanting to upgrade to something with a little more automation.

I bought it from customincubators.com and paid $325 total for the incubator and wire trays.

It does not have the hatching tray at the bottom, but you can just place one of the wire trays down there to do your hatching. A plastic one would probably be even better and really cut down on cleanup!

It came with the wafer thermostat, one fan, and a red light bulb as the heating element. I added a fan for better air circulation, upgraded the light bulb to a ceramic heat emitter which should last for years, and drilled a few ventilation holes with plugs to adjust your temp/humidity. I will also include all the wire trays, 2 autoturners, and the Brinsea liquid thermometer that I bought for it. Over all there is about $450 into this setup. I am asking $300 for everything.

It looks exactly like the one pictured here on the left.

The hubby is going out to the property to drag some dirt around today. I will get him to take a picture of it. It is pretty sad looking right now! It only has a couple of inches of water in it. My rain dances are not working very well!

The gander is the round, plump one, that moves around a lot.

I love the Muscovies!

They all arrived very lively as you can see.
