Gracie, I can't wait to see pictures of your pond. That is so cool!! Your geese will LOVE that!

The hubby is going out to the property to drag some dirt around today. I will get him to take a picture of it. It is pretty sad looking right now! It only has a couple of inches of water in it. My rain dances are not working very well!

That's a very good start though! I wish it were me ;-)

For some reason I can't see the videos, but I'm totally jealous of Mike's gander! I am really hoping to get on Cottage Rose's list for next year

I wonder why you can't see the videos. I tried them out and they work for me.

I hope Cottage Rose has a better year next year. I want to be on her waiting list too!!

As for Mike's gander, I'm hoping that between the eggs he has and the couple that I have that we can hatch a mate for the gander.

Sounds like a great idea Pete ,.. we use pine straw when I have it raked and oak tree leaves when they are clean,.. make the coop smell good ( for a little while anyway

).. as long as they are dry and have no fungus or mold on them. If you try it,. post how it worked for you.

Found a cool website with lots of good info for newbies,, and even some of us "overrun with chickens" people called "Poultry Podiatry" if anyone want to check it out.

It says the video is set to private.

Gracie, I went in and changed the setting to public. See if you can open it now and let me know. Thanks!

LOL - I came home from work the other day for lunch & just as I was fitting my key in the back door, I hear this weird noise - you know we have those 2 huge fig trees & they're so thick & green right now you can't see in the back very well -- anyway, we had seen a new stray cat the night before & I thought "O my gosh, that poor cat's hurt"! -- it sounded again & I started looking everywhere -- sounded like it was right directly behind me -- well you know what it was -- the peas were "practicing"! Those rascals can throw their voices, I swear! I laughed so hard at myself and them. I was so sure it was a badly injured cat. When I call to them, they call back to me. Romeo is going to be absolutely gorgeous when he gets his full tail, & the more I see D'art fan the more I love the Buford Bronze color (& wish I had a bronze mate for him)!

I, too have those blue pools everywhere & they are a royal pain to clean but the poultry all seem to enjoy them so much. I wish I had a pond (stocked with catfish, yum)!

Twiley the scovies are cute as can be! I couldn't open your 2nd video either.
Now I gotta go check out that Poultry Podiatry website.
