"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

You are the caregiver to your family. Taking care of the little ones is a biggie. You are the caregiver of your husband and boy, does he need you. Offering your love and support for the others is a big plus. The stress is shared from them to you. And you offer back your support emotionally to them. Don't down yourself by not being the only caregiver. You do your share. And I'll bet they love you the more for it. You're a very classy special woman and I want to hear your roar. !!!!! :D

I ended up with 5 purebred Silver Seabright hens (what are the odds of that, lol)
I am in desperate need of a purebred silver Seabright rooster. AT least 5 months old. I will pay shipping cost and the cost of the rooster. I need him ASAP... please help anyone, please

Ya, what are the chances of that?! I've seen pictures posted on Berzas Bantams of seabrights. That is a Facebook page. Check it out. It doesn't hurt to ask the ones that post pictures of them if they have any extra roos. Or they may know someone that does.

Petrus will get what you want if you talk to them, and they have not had any health issues that I know of -- I bought 2 EE's from them 2 years ago when I had only 1 chick hatch so it wouldn't be alone (of course it turned out to be a roo) anyway both were healthy & are good layers of big green eggs, so no complaints on their hatchery stock. I forget where they get them from but it's not where TSC gets theirs from - not Ideal either (I remember that surprised me because Ideal is so close to us I figured that would be the logical choice).

Privette hatchery

Before you touch a TSC chick, find out where the chicks are coming from. If they say New Mexico, no matter how cute, HANDS OFF!!!!! Seriously! SO MANY DEAD BIRDS. It's NOT worth it. Me and several others lost so many chicks and not just the TSC ones. They were dropping like flies including some of my older chicks too. It was terrible.  They clearly had some sort of contagious disease and upon looking up that hatchery it has a history of issues. Maybe they will use a different one this year.

So Petrus gets their chicks from the same hatchery as TSC? Was it salmonella or Marek's that wiped them out? I've read about both.

I guess I'll just cross my fingers for this breeder in Florida. And speaking of... What is there to prove to me the "quality" of their lineage? I mean, I could make a website and sell chicks. Is that really all it takes?

Wow! I had a lot of catching up to do. My PC acquired a virus and had tons of malware/adware on it. Had to get it remotely cleaned today.

So where do I start. I received the toe punches today. Fastest shipping ever, I ordered on Thursday. Linda I have an extra if by chance your coming towards Ruston anytime soon. The punch is a lot smaller than I thought it would be. Slightly over 1/16" in Dia. Makes me feel better about doing it. I've got bigger holes in myself

Thank you for the advice on the chicks and the book, oh and the Blosl link also. I ordered "The Call of the Hen" when you suggested it a couple months ago. I haven't read it cover to cover yet.
It's kind of a hard read for me. You know how us youngsters are with all the ole timey words.

The Ussery "Small Scale Poultry Flock" was a lot more fun for me to read.

Lemon, when it rains it pours. So sorry to hear about your father in law and that's awful about your family friend. I hope he pulls through. Thank you for the advice on the chicks and the links. I've got them bookmarked. I ran across the Kenny Troiano site not to long ago. I've got so many sites bookmarked it's overwhelming. I'm just now about to get my first hatch under my belt and there's so much to learn. One thing at a time. I've learned so much about chickens the last few months and now understand it takes a lifetime of devotion.

Thank you everyone for all the help and moral support you've given me.

I don't know if privett is where TSC gets their chicks. But last time I heard that is where Petrus gets their chicks. I've never heard of anyone having any trouble buying chicks there. Ours always have done well.
