"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

They come off and you keep having to replace them. This is safe and one time only. Saves a lot of money also. Also, Pam, where do you buy your egg cartons from. I had a place but I lost it. Bummer.

My husband's father had to be taken to the hospital in ambulance night before last, with a possible stroke. But lots of testing going on for him. My oldest has a friend that tried to commit suicide. They thought he passed away and his Dad was saying his goodbyes to him yesterday morning. He started responding to his dad's voice. We are praying for him and they are doing more testing in him to see what his status is. They had kept him on the life support because he is an organ donor. Just heart wrenching for his family! And my little one (that is as big as me) is sick with something! I finally gave her some phenergan do she would stop vomiting and she is running a low fever. Whew! How crazy this life is!!!!!! I'm so glad we can have chicken therapy.

Cody if you want to spend the money on that many chicks I say go for it. I'll buy a few from you to offset if you want. Start raising as many as you can for the first year or so. Pick only the best couple of roosters and the best 4 or so pullets. It's called Rotational Breeding. The BEST. Here's a site that is still up on Bob Blosl (who is sorely missed) on the very thing. http://bloslspoutlryfarm.tripod.com/id60.html Also, go to Google/Books and search for "Call of the Hen" It's free and so good for information on breeding.

I don't all my customers bring them to me and some that don't buy my eggs give then to me. If I showed you all I have it would last 2 or 3 years. Most that save them are from azure standard co-op people. I'm in the process of getting a sticker as a label . If you put the word out you'll get so many you won't know what to do with them. Pam

So sorry to hear this. I'll be adding them to my prayers. Pam

I've had a hard time finding SS breeders still in business. And honestly, I think my hens and roo look better than 90% of the other SS I've seen. I've been studying their SOP and of my five, three are really promising as breeders. I'm hoping that I can take hatchery quality and make the very best backyard SS around. Me and my big dreams.

But really, that's never been what I'm about. My cats have always been strays and my dogs are always from the shelter or "free to a good home." I've only bought one full-blooded pup in my life, and even though I love the breed and want to keep one forever, I'll never pay money like that again.

Fortunately I'm living in a place I don't own (think parsonage), otherwise it would be total chicken city, like you.

The funding fell through on my second coop, so I'll have to stick with what I've got, for now.
Do you know why the SS breeders are not breeding them anymore or are they just out of business as you say.
Nothing wrong with dreams. Everybody has them.

Yea, I'm not into purebred dogs. You spend the big bucks for the dog then the vet bills start happening. And you just hope that they are healthy.

That would be a good name for a coop. Sorry to hear yours fell through. It will happen for you eventually.

My last GSD came from the pound. You can find a rescue for almost every breed. I've seen your SS around camping I can't remember the site I'll make a note next time I see them. Pam

I've seen a few websites with show quality SS that haven't been updated in awhile, or have blank pages where the carts should be. Not sure why. I've found a few folks through fb groups who have them, but whenever I ask for breeders I only hear crickets chirping.

And I can't bring myself to pay GreenFire (or similar) prices. I'd like to find some locally do there's less stress on everyone. The auctions are starting back up soon, so maybe I can find some that way. Or at least some sellers.

Thanks! I hope y'all don't think I'm complaining. Because really the most stress I think is on the caregivers, not me. His wife and my husband and his sister. And the family of the boy that is having trouble. They are the ones that truly are having it rough. I am just glad I can be here for them. And my little is not throwing up today! Yay! Her fever broke a little while ago and I hope that will be the end of it. She is just really tired now.

Thanks a bunch Pam!
