"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

The one bird in this photo that is questionable going by combs is on the top roost with it's back facing us but it has pointed hackles and saddle feathers also you see a tail hanging down.

They all look like this typically.

Here you can see different colors.

And a closer shot of two males where one is much darker than the other.

Crikey! I would send those boys to freezer camp while they are still tender. And I would be sending photos to the hatchery!!!

Ugh. Y'all, I dawdled on my chores today and had to hurriedly cover the coop in a fine mist of sleet. I threw some pine straw over some baby day lilies, maybe that will help. I really have no clue. But I think we're ready now.

I didn't get more than the five eggs, and now I don't expect to. Glad I threw more hay in the coop yesterday.

Y'all hunkered down?

You know what I did? NUTHIN!!! Lol! I sent everyone else out to take care of chores. This storm front kicked my butt. House chores today was my game. Everyone is fine though since they have been set up for winter anyway.

I've been a bit busy here but my hatch went alright, though the fertility was not astounding. Most of the blue and green eggs were infertile so no chicks from Annabelle. :( Overall I had 14 fertile eggs and 12 hatched. I also had 2 little zebra finches hatch too! The finches were a surprise. i'd just about given up on the clutch. Some of these chicks are going to be interesting birds.

Cute babies!!! My hatch has been a pain in the neck. I had 7 pop out like popcorn right on time. And then ......................crickets! So I finally checked a couple really quick and saw movement so I left them until this evening. Then still nothing. Not even a peep or a pip. So I popped a window in a couple and they were moving, just SLOW compared to those first that were on time. So a couple more are out and still waiting on the rest to finish. I REALLY am wanting a new incubator. This one has to have cold spots or something. This is basically the same thing that happened last time, and I didn't even really mess with the eggs this time. So that has to be it. I don't have any eggs right now that need incubating, but when I do I hope I have a broody available, LOL! I'm going to have to save up for a new incubator and just use this one to dry off freshly hatched or something like that. The chicks that are out are all cutie pies of course. All of the bantams out so far are going to be sold. I hope I don't get too attached to them!

^I started mixing grower and grain at a 2:1 ratio. Mixed about 150 lbs yesterday. When that is about gone it will be time to take them on a vacation.

I am going to contact Ideal about this straight run of roos. I'll let ya'll know what they say. :)

Well if I can help with advice feel free to ask. Don't know how much help I'd be. Most things can be looked up on the line these days.
