Good morning all! hope everybody is doing well. I was picking tomatoes Fri afternoon & felt a sting -- slapped at it & kept going, figured it was fire ants. An hour later my arm was swelling a big red circle around 2 puncture spots -- spider bite -- ended up going to my Dr & getting a big shot & 2 prescriptions for antibiotics. Nasty looking wound but getting better today.
I decided to take the day off & run some pleasant errands, get a new battery in my good Seiko watch, buy new pillows for the bed. Under Dr's orders to not get over-heated so will stay cool.
Awesome buys at the church sale Chickenguru! - I've been keeping an eye out for a pressure cooker but no luck so far (not in my price range, anyway). Julie love your keets! they are so cute!
I am finally beginning to be able to distinguish boys from girls in my Ameracauna hatch, will have some extras if anybody's interested in a "non-standard" color but one which will lay blue eggs. I'm keeping some of them for my next generation to continue to work on deepening the egg color & size but should have 4-5 girls - let me know if interested. Boys are free! any extras will go to freezer camp here.
Main flock is continuing to enjoy free ranging & bonus! we haven't had to cut under our big fig trees; they are doing a nice job of keeping it weeded out under there. As long as we dont' get a stray dog or coyote we'll be fine. They also put themselves up for the night when it gets dark, all I have to do is close the coop door. Nice!
