Had to go to Alex for a follow -up exam from the fall , needed some feed ; stopped at Petrus and now I have 8 pullet Buff Orphs to add

to my collection . Ya'll call it chicken math ????

Little shower at Nissan Of Lake Charles today, not much. Get ready southwest louisiana Rob Robin said its gonna rain for the next few days. I hope it does.

My project for the last couple days have been to get the yard cleared up(just rambling junk all over...

... cages,feeders,waterers,wire,a few feed bags the pony decided to run off with...normal chicken junk.) AND working on some small pens.So far I have 4 pens put up.Each pen is 8w X 10d X 4h. Framing is done and a wrap of chicken wire up.Plywood over the back 8 ft of the first pen with a string of chicken wire over the front 2 ft.I am going over it with 2x4 wire then along the outsides and back I will have lattice.Everything I am using is recycled materials.The 4x4s,the 2x4s, Plywood,and the 2x2s that will go in for roost poles.Some of the 2x4 wire.I am doing this completely by myself,so when I post pics,don't critique me too much...lol... I'm no Mike... I still have to put plywood over the last 3 runs and put the doors together and on.I will be working on it off and on all day...

.Once I'm done,I will run pvc through for the bell waterers like my temp coop.My babies will be so happy to be in the big pens.

I will be adding 2 more pens to one end of the runs.Totalling 6 runs. Once the kids get old enough to seperate for pures,I will have 1 in each pen except the BBS Orps.For obvious reasons...lol.. It will be ...BBS Orps,Lav Orps,Buff Orps.... Barred Rocks.... Blue Lace Red Wyandottes....Showgirls/Silkies. Not sure on the Golden Cuckoo Marans.I may let them go. This way I can let them all range together now and the off season,then seperate and alternate playtime for breeding next year....lol.
