Me and the family went over to Mobile and spent Friday night and most of Saturday with my parents. My dads is
a minister and him and mom had been gone all last week.
Got up early Saturday morning and went yard saling with my mom and a lady from the church there in Mobile. The first
place we stopped at I did pretty good. I bought a piece of a roll of hardware cloth 1/2" x 1/2" for 1 buck, a 50' roll of 36"
chicken wire for 5 bucks and a potato digger for 2 bucks. Over the next few stops we bought 2 blue enamel boiling water canners
for .75 and .25 and mom got about a 6-8 quart pressure canner for 2 bucks.
We finally finished up with all of the corn. We had a second patch that I needed to do for my dad but we lost it overnight being that
it is so dry. We spent all day Thursday canning okra and tomatoes and I think we ended up with 3 or 4 cases of quarts.(Plenty for winter time gumbo
and soups.) Later this evening after church we will have to go out and pick peas and the butterbeans will be needing to be picked over for
the first time.
Now to start getting the ground plowed up and laid by for the fall garden.
Hope everyone has a great weekend.

In general, most of the OEGB are very docile. You may come across a few agressive roos, usually Blacks,Birchen, few others... I have owned MANY different breeds and many more roos.I love their little personality and sizes. If he is not aggressive now, just keep showing him love and attention and you should have no problems.During breeding season their is a chance he could get protective for a time, but please don't mistake for meanness.I have a couple of 'bachelors myself here.I sold off most of my OEGB ,but didn't have the heart to let them go.They are such sweeties, and very loving.Always trying to see who can get to mom first. They have run with the big hens with no problems. They really aren't any different than regular roosters.Yes the boys will spend a couple of minutes running around bouncing off each other when I let them out,but nothing more than childsplay. They stay in the same pen 24/7,and when I put them out, they bounce off the walls for a few minutes. They will defend themselves and may try an initial "I'm the boss".Just a pecking order deal. I say at least give the fella a try.
Here's a pic of a crele: The color may be lighter depending on the amount of the genes from the barred and the partridge sides....

The 2 groups of keets were integrated on yesterday and they all seem to be getting along. No fighting or fussing. Last night was their first night out of their brooders and in the "Guin Pen". All is well.

Whiskey Bay, thank you for the encouragement, my roo isn't pure but the closest breed I can claim him to be is oeg crele game.....he is like the color of your roos tail, gray and black body , saddle feathers are spackles cream and black (or gray) and neck feathers, tail has solid colors..is he a crele game? don't know how to do the pictures but will learn...have you seen a roo like this, barred but not look like a barred rock, does that help.....I really want to keep him, he is still seperate from flock just being...started to crow (only once) that I could hear him....
