"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

I've got a hen with vent gleet I think. I noticed dirty feathers and when I picked her up she stunk! Gave her a good soak and most everything came clean, but there are a few spots on the skin that did not and the vent area is swollen. Put her in sick bay last night with acv water. Been reading on treatments and will start those this morning. I have a pic post-bath if someone wants to verify what she has for me.
She is my sweetest by far. Will sit in my lap or in my arms for hours.

Thanks Pam. I looked at that thread when I got the BR's last year but had no luck sexing them. Since they all turned out to be cockerels it's no wonder now why I couldn't tell any differences. LOL. Hopefully I can put it to use soon with purebreds ;)

So glad that you checked in! I've been wondering lately how you were doing with your run. Mine is black again, so I bought more to freshen it a bit. When the feeder gets empty they dig down and make a big mess of everything.

Mine do that, too. But, right now everything still looks good. But, for $10 worth of easy to handle pine shavings I can add a new layer.

I am sad to report that my precious Primrose passed away. She is my avatar, my first chicken and so tame. She periodically had crop issues. Previously I could pull her through with careful care guided by this thread, but this time she just died quickly. She was also the one that won the Pets in Pink contest wearing a pink ballet outfit I made her. RIP sweet girl.

So sorry to hear that! :hugs It's never easy to lose one, especially the mascot.

Pam, I love all your babies. Also, for anyone that has too many fertilized eggs for the bater, Kuntrygirl that used to be on this thread, had some in her fridge, if I remember correctly it was for a while, then stuck them in the bater just to see and some hatched, just stick the extras in the frige until you have bater space.

morning everyone...going to be hatching alot of birdies this coming week...jumbo quail, pheasants, and chickens...cant wait...getting eggsited...lol
