Hens get off their eggs all the time my incubator even has a cool down mode to mimic the hen. I wouldn't give up. If you have a bright flash light u can try candle them. If you see air cell an dark mass in them keep going. I'd keep going anyway I'm not the best candler. Pam

So if I decide to candle in a day or so, will the air cell have gone away if she was off of them too long?

No you want an air cell, a dark area or viens . I had my bater unpluged by dogs for I don't know how long and some hatched you never know. As long as you don't smell rotten eggs your fine if u do carefully remove the offender. That's something u don't want to clean up.

Hi, guys. This thread told me to try pine shavings in my chicken yard. All the rain had soured the poop and it smelled really bad. I bought some PDZ, but it is expensive and heavy and it takes a lot to cover an area. Well, I got the pine shavings. Two bales were cheap and light weight and it covered a large area. No smell and it's been through more rain and the big storm. I'm so impressed. That's the way to go. Thanks for the great tip. And, also, the yard it nicer looking, better walking, just overall great.

So glad that you checked in! I've been wondering lately how you were doing with your run. Mine is black again, so I bought more to freshen it a bit. When the feeder gets empty they dig down and make a big mess of everything.
