"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

The bantam eggs I set two weeks ago are looking just fantastic. Only one of the bunch wasn't fertile, and the rest are pretty much picture perfect development wise. School has started back up for me so it will be very busy around here. Luckily they are set to hatch on a weekend.

My LP marans are also being stubbornly hard to sex. I have no clue if I have all cockerels or not. I suppose if I do I'll be having a few to sell once they are mature and I can pick two to keep.

Nope, not since the raccoon. I dumped the body in "the boneyard" and it's just bones and fur now. Not even the stink is left. I'm still working on coop training, though. Every night I have to put about 8 girls back in the coop. No more tree sleepers, though. :D

My Easter babies all turn 5 mos next week, so I'm hoping for eggs before too much longer. I've never added lighting to the coop, but I'm getting tempted.

I'll put some pics!!

DH moved the camp tractor over to the yard. Introductions!

Really pretty chickens, all of them.

I had another good hatch this week of cuties. It's small batches of chicks. This one was mostly straight reds. One cross and one of my kids oegb. The brooder is filling up. Lots of work in the garden, a sick husband and Wednesday night lost a dear friend. He was a close mentor and friend to us all, but especially my husband. Terri knew Ralph Mcneal. His funeral is Monday. His wife and 2 girls could sure use our prayers.

Enjoy the cooler evenings folks!

I was so sad to hear about Ralph, but he has suffered so much these past few years and I'm glad he's out of pain now. I'm sure he's bustling around up there telling St. Peter how to put together a multi-level marketing program! I really enjoyed all the years we worked together & miss the lumberyard so much.
