I haven't heard not to feed sugar. I'm sure you wouldn't want to thrown out a 10lb bag of sugar to them.

My chickens get everything from the freezer and fridge. They love the baked beans.

ETA: I feed them all of the free sweets (cakes, ding dongs, ho ho's, honey buns, etc) that I get from the bread store. I don't feed it to them daily but they get snacks at least 2 times a week.

I'd feed it to them!!! As far as I'm concerned if it's good enough for me to eat then my chickens get the leftovers.

I agree!

I always think it's hilarious when people start talking about sugar, salt, msg, etc. when questioning what to give them. Especially when it's something they ate for dinner!!

If it's good enough for me, then it's good enough for the birds!

Yeppers. I agree.

Hey there everybody! I just got in - spent the morning hauling limbs to the burn pile -- good grief, it's humongus! my Dad brought over his chainsaw & we got w/the action. Still have the majority of the tree firmly wedged in the fork of the tree next to it but that'll take somebody w/better equipment than ours to get down.
At least I have a clear path into and across the chicken yard again!

I'm not clear on the duck train but ya'll remember I'm in Alexandria so I'm 1/2 way between south & north - so if there's anything I can do, let me know.

I have an apt w/a vet at 2:00 for my precious little Winnie; unfortunately I'm 99.9% sure it's a torn ACL so surgery in our near future and a loonnnggg recover period, esp. for this little live wire who never ever walks anywhere & lives to chase balls. I do so dread this!

My peas made a new noise to me this morning; I made macque choux last night & was throwing the corn cobs to the chickens & they wanted some, too & they made the softest little chirruppy noises at me; never heard them make that sound before. It was so neat. Of course they got special treats too!

OK time to go scratch up some lunch. Have a good afternoon!

I'm pumped up, I was passing by a Bobcat dealer on my lunch break and seen this in a pile of pallets. So I stopped by and they let me take it. Perfect crate about 4'x3' not sure how tall. Aslo has lid to it. I think Im gonna make a brooder out of it. What yall think?

O M G !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love that crate !!!! That is a great score. You did good!

I would surely use it as a brooder. I would lay something (old towels, etc.) on the floor of it so they wouldn't get any splinters or anything in their little feet. Other than that, it's great! AND it has a lid!?

I have been looking for something just like it for awhile now.. I thinking maybe cutting a large portion of the center of the lid out and cover it with chicken wire or 1/2x1/2 wire. hmmmmm new project.
