"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

No, I missed the CP parade. I wish we would have made it, though. Gary was supposed to ride, but you know he wasn't feeling very well, so he decided not to.

I'll take a good Cajun Mardi Gras any day over the bigger parades. Some of these people were a trip. Lots of those on horseback definitely should not have been, but that's Mardi Gras, I guess. People carrying live chickens, people carrying dead chickens, people with hats made out of chickens-not even kidding!

Cajunchick, where's Pecaniere? Never heard of that one. Might have to check it out next year.

Just checking in on everyone. Have been slightly busy and not on a lot the last few days.
Been having to build a new brooder and fixing up the original brooder.
Need some warm dry weather here for the next week or 2. Got some quail today and
am going to try and start raising a few.
Have nearly 200 eggs incubating and tonight hearing chirping from one of the incubators
so now I really could use a few warm, dry, no wind days.
Take care everyone.
Oh,lamike...I could use a little info on getting some Georgia Giant Bobwhites..either young birds or possibly eggs.If you
will pm or email me please.

I have a bunch of Lamikes Northerns in the bator now

I bought 12 nearly mature quail yesterday but they were really not what I wanted.
Was wanting bobwhites but got what i thought was a good deal on these Pharaoh
so decided to give them a try. If I see I really don't want these I guess we will
either fry them up or make a good 'ol wild game jambalaya with them.
Still want to get the bobwhites though.
I've got the incubators all full of chick eggs right now except for the Sportsman
I just went and bought Monday.(Like i needed another incubator, but was too
good a deal to pass up.)

I've been thinking about trying quail this year. Does anybody know if they would do all right in a chicken tractor? I have one sitting empty at the moment...

'Bator is on lockdown for a Friday hatch of Welsummers, Blue Andalusians, Blue Plymouth Rocks, Wheaton & Blue Wheaton Ameracaunas and Golden Cuckoo Marans. Please keep some fingers crossed for us!

Ooh, that sounds like an awesome mix! Are those all from your stock? Good luck on those! I lockdown tomorrow-again. I've got a tote full of babies from last week sitting right here in my living room. Gotta move those out to the coop to make room for this next hatch.

The Wellies & Blue Andalusians are from my stock - hatched last summer from eggs from Okiehen. Golden Marans & Ameracaunas are from PasoFinoFarms & the Blue Plymouth Rocks are from Halo--my 2nd try, I got eggs from her last year & the P.O. scrambled them so only hatched 4 & 3 of those were stinkin' roos! looking MUCH better this time!

good luck on your hatch also! what have you got in your bator?

Hey Harry, missed you the other day when I called, told Darlene I would try and get you the next day but you know how it goes sometimes. Starting to get quite a few bee calls. Have five removals lined up once the lows get out of the 30's here.

The wife and I will be heading north soon, maybe we can stop by on the way back and say hello. Talk with you soon, hope all of you are staying warm & well.

I've been thinking about getting Ameraucanas from Pasofino. Tried to get hubby to drive down there with me when he was home this time, but it didn't work out. Marans too, just for the egg color. Can't wait to hear how your hatch goes! Do your Wellies lay a pretty dark egg? You need to post pics of your birds. I'd love to see them.

I've got a big assortment, mostly my own eggs-except for some Buff Orps from Jody and Charlie, and BLRWs from JamesA. I'm trying to improve my stock with those. My own that are in there are Bantam Cochins, OEGB from my new Spangled and Crele birds that I got recently-first eggs that I set from these OEGB, BBS Orps, Black Mottled D'uccle, Serama, and my first eggs from my new Sebrights(so excited about these-got them from Tom Carey). So here's hoping for a good hatch-for us both

Good luck!
