"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

I've got my fingers crossed for myself right now but will cross them a little tighter or cross my toes or eyes for you. Maybe that will work?
Mine was supposed to start hatching tomorrow but had 4 (and a 5th on it's way) that decided they were
not waiting another day in those shell houses they have. This batch is 28 Black Australorp and I finished out the incubator with
3 Ameraucana, and 5 sex links from my chickens and rooster.
GOOD LUCK!

No, I missed the CP parade. I wish we would have made it, though. Gary was supposed to ride, but you know he wasn't feeling very well, so he decided not to.

I'll take a good Cajun Mardi Gras any day over the bigger parades. Some of these people were a trip. Lots of those on horseback definitely should not have been, but that's Mardi Gras, I guess. People carrying live chickens, people carrying dead chickens, people with hats made out of chickens-not even kidding!

Cajunchick, where's Pecaniere? Never heard of that one. Might have to check it out next year.

It's near Port Barre...On the way to Leonville. It gets CRAZY there!!

Can I ask y'all what your preferences are with incubators?? I've been looking online at a hovabator 1588 (I think!) with a auto egg turner.

Thanks,
Missi

Well, I have a Little Giant that I had great results with but it is still air and have an egg turner with it.
Bought a hovabator forced air with turner a few weeks back and have 18 eggs in it now.
I also have a Sportsman full of eggs and another Sportsman I just bought Tuesday.
Haven't used it yet but thinking about using it as a hatcher for the eggs in the other Sportsman.
Like all of them though, just depends on how many eggs you want to incubate but personally I
have less trouble with the little Giant as far as temp and humidity.
Bought hatching eggs from a man the other day and he has I think, a hovabator with turner he is trying
to sell me for 50.00. 1 batch of eggs with no luck so he wants to get rid of it. Wife is telling me to get it but gosh I
think 4 is enough right now. Anyways next time I see him the price may come down some.

Well, I don't live in Louisiana anymore, but I was born and raised in the greater New Orleans area, and got my undergraduate degree from Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana.

My buff orpington went broody in December and successfully hatched two chicks on December 27, 2009 -- just in time for the NFL playoffs.

One baby is black with white bars (half barred rock, half EE) and the other is yellow with some tan markings (half buff orpington, half EE).

In other words, my buff hatched a black chick and a gold chick just in time for the Saints championship run.

Needless to say, we named our two babies after our favorite saints: the gold chick is named Drew (after Drew Brees) and the black barred chick is named Pierre (after Pierre Thomas).

The two were still living in our home on Super Bowl Sunday, and we took pictures of the black and gold baby chicks watching their namesakes win the Superbowl.

Additionally, we have a picture of Drew "reading" Monday's Times Picayune -- you know the one, the one that announced "AMEN: After 43 Years, Saints Prayer is Answered" and under that headline, a picture of Drew Sr. holding the Lombardi trophy.

You do some serious eggs hatching with the Sportsman huh??
