Hey everyone. I was thinking about if all of us Lay'ers could put our brillant minds together and come up with a list that would be a resource link for our LOUISIANA thread. I know that many of us from time to time will experience some type of illness or emergency and if we had a list where all of us could refer to, would help a little.
I know that there is a thread for emergencies/illnesses, etc. on BYC but if we compiled that list here in "one location", we wouldn't have to search all over to find this. Also, if something happens to one of our animals and no one is online at the time that person posts and they are needing immediate help on the Louisiana thread, then they could go to that post on our thread and read up on it until one of us can is able to read that person's thread and respond. Example: Missi had an emergency with her rooster when she came back from vacation and she posted but no one was really online to offer any suggestions, so Missi winged it and helped her rooster with no help. If there was a "Resource Thread" that she could have gone to, she could have pulled up what to do and would have had all of the information in front of her.
I know that we won't be able to have information for every little thing but the few things that we can put together would help. And as things happen and as we experience problems, we could continue to edit the post to add those things. We could also have a Predator category and include information on what to do and how to catch them.
And we can still post our questions and problems as they happen every day and we can still help one another out as we always do.
There are a lot of great posts that contain information on BYC but they are ALL over the place. Having it in one place would be less stressful and we wouldn't have to search for hours to look for information.
Everyone has a variety of animals, so we could have a category for those animals.
We could also post pics of what an illness or problem looks like in the event someone wants to know what "something" looks like. Example: Dry Pox, Pics of worms, wry neck, "poop chart pics" for anyone seeing abnormal poop from their chickens, etc.
We can also post pics of the products/meds that will be listed.
Let me know what you all think and everyone could contribute to the thread because everyone on this thread has expertise, knowlegde and valuable information that they can contribute to this "Resource"thread.
