"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

We have 2 day old baby Modenas . They are from my biggest pair . Dad is solid White and Mom is what is called gazzi . When my wife and daughter get back from the Saints game tonite ,

Glad you explained what a Modena is 'cuz I was wondering too! Now, what is a "gazzi"? some kind of color pattern I presume?

Also, do you turn your pigeons loose around here to fly back home? because on a lot of weekends, usually on a Sunday morning, we see a big flock of them fly over our house, heading back towards town, always the same direction. They are light colored & bigger than the regular "wild" pigeons.

One day we saw 2 SUV's stop on the highway just down from us & release pigeons from crates in the back of the SUVs.

LOL Julie so you're a native of the "Show Me" state -- that explains a lot!

I wonder if there is a minature breed of llama.... One of the plantations up the road has donkeys out with their sheep. They aren't nearly as cute as llamas...

Terri , you saw what they call a release or a toss for a race , several members of a club race their birds and the first bird home wins . You can spend some major bucks with electronic bands and timers at the lofts that clock the bird in as soon as it goes in the loft . There are races that pay out big money . They crate the birds take them anywhere from 20 to 300 miles away and set them loose and away they go . It's awesome .

There has to be a mini-Llama , they got mini everything else and the gazzi is one of the color patterns . Some of those pigeons sell up in the thousands for one bird !

Do you all raise them for their beauty or is there a commercial value with them also ?

Yes, that's on a peacock. Mine don't have those beautiful feathers just yet. Not for another year or so.

I only have them for their beauty but some people raise them for the $$$$$.

So glad you are. This is really a great group of people. Don't mind our back and forth fun about LSU. It's how we have fun. No harm done from either side. We really do have fun here. This is the best thread that I belong to on BYC.
