I still need a purple peacock.

It used to be over in Eunice. Anyone up that way know if the Purple Peacock is still around??

I haven't checked on the tree, but i don't think it is fig time right now, i'll check tomorrow and see if there are any on it.

Probably not huh? We usually pick in July and August. This year I didnt have to pick any, I gave a lady a couple dozen eggs and she insisted on me taking about 4 gal of figs she picked off her tree. I told her oh no only once, I didnt want to argue.. lol

I have also seen that people use egg cartons with just the bottom cups in their incubator to hold the eggs in place, laying on their sides with larger end more up.

We have two 30 yr old fig trees - they're huge -

Thanks Terri and Kuntrygirl!  Now I know where I will plant the fig tree as part of my chicken yard landscaping.  I bought it a year ago at Lowe's and just set it in the yard in the black plastic bucket it comes in and it has been strong and happy, so I guess it's a good tree.  It's a win-win, me and the girls will both be happy.

I wish I could be your chickens when those figs start falling.

All this talk about figs has made me hungry. If anyone has any figs for sale, please let me know. I'm willing to buy a few jars. Figs and hot biscuits and a cold glass of milk does a body good.

I will have to find the ancient piggy bank. I think it's buried under one of the pecan trees. It's been so long since I dug it up. I"ll have to get out the map to find it.

LOL right off 190(north side) couldn't miss it LOL I used to go there for the drag races(the race track not the purple peacock) LOL. The purple peacock was a landmark in Unice LOL

Howdy doo to the new La-yers too

Well we got a little shower on the turnip greens last night finally now maybe I will get to eat me some of those purple-top turnip roots and some collard greens too,

with fresh baked pone of home-made cornbread(no sugar in mine,please)

good day everone, think I will go check out the green patch this mornin and pull up a wheel barrow or two full for the chickens to munch on today, that should liven up the yard spirits for a while I figure+make those egg yolks orange,orange and thick-thick too.

Your garden looks MAGNIFICENT Jeff! Good job. I bet the showers helped it. Those greens would go great in my juicer for my Mean Green Juice Detox drink.
