"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

Good to know that Petrus carries it. How much is it there?

I didn't even ask -- they are reasonable on most of their stuff & it beats paying shipping costs. They have a pretty good selection of medications there.

OK this popped up at that right time, so I'm reposting it for anybody interested. I've made a version similar to this & used it on my dogs for years (I never put the vanilla in mine but will try that next time I make it - I just got a big quart of Mexican vanilla) I do use all the rest of the ingredients listed). For the lemon juice, I cut up 2 lemons, cover w/water & bring to a boil & then let them steep in the pot overnight.

I wonder if hanging the dryer sheets from the ceiling of the coop would help? I have used the vanilla car scent things for flies & they seemed to work.

Yay!! It's Spring!! Time to get ready for Mosquito invasions. ;-) Here's an easy, natural, pleasant repellent recipe you can make at home:

Combine in a 1...6 oz bottle:

15 drops lavender oil

3-4 Tbsp of vanilla extract

10 drops of lemon eucalyptus oil

1/4 Cup lemon juice.

Fill bottle with water.

Shake & it's ready to use.

Spray on yourself.

NOTE: these oils are fairly common... health food stores, most pharmacies, garden stores, large chain stores, or you can order them online.

Make some extra to gift to your neighbors, family & friends. (Trust me.. it'll be appreciated!)

-or Take garlic pills. This works, but might keep some people away too. lol

-or- Avon's Skin-So-Soft (this also works for ticks.... put it on your shoes, exposed socks & around your ankles.)

-or- Lots of folks said Eucalyptus oil works... just put it on exposed areas.

-or- Lots of folks say putting a fresh dryer sheet in your pocket or under your hat works well. One lady said she ties a strip of one into a bow on her dog's collar. It's worth a try!!

I think everyone's body chemistry is different, so try these out to see which one works best for you & each member of your family. No one wants to get bitten & definitely no one wants to get West Nile Virus!!

I will try the recipe for the birds.

I used Skin-So-Soft in the coops and stalls and on the animals last year. I went through about 15 large bottles of Skin-So-Soft. I kept the Avon lady in business for several months.

Hey Julie, I think this would go great over at your place!

HELP!!! I'm a bit confused or maybe unsure. I went on Jeffers and was preparing to buy the pox stuff and thought it would be good to order worming stuff, too.

I carefully read the earlier worming posts, but am a little confused.

First I do Wazine, but 12-14 days later I should do Ivermec? Does that mean not to eat the eggs from the first Wazine dose until 2 weeks after the Ivermec dose? Do I ever have to use Safeguard or Valbazen? Or, can I just stick with Wazine followed by ivermec 4 times a year? FINALLY, can I vacinate them for pox and worm them at the same time? THANKS!!! I am just learning about all this. I watched the YouTube video and am not completely confident about the administration of the pox stuff, but I'm going to try.
