"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

Evening everyone! Congrats on those goslings!

My daughter's duckling swallowed her earring this evening. It's a pretty good size stud. I'm praying the poor thing passes it without any punctures or metal poisoning. She cried forever holding that duckling in her lap in the recliner.

I know chickens swallow odd things and seem to usually do okay. I have no idea about ducks.

hopefully it'll all come out in the end w/no problems. Years ago, when we had White Chinese geese, one snuck up behind me & sucked a very nice & not cheap! black pearl earring out of my ear & of course disappeared into the flock before we could identify the culprit --

Terri, great to see you and Jim again. Had a great time at your place yesterday. Thank you so much for ALL of the fig trees and wild plum trees and plum jelly and feeder trough. I needed a UHAUL for all of the goodies that you gave us on yesterday.

Enjoyed the peas, the chickens, the guineas, the dogs and the cat. So much to see over there and it was a beautiful day to see it.

I had your plum jelly and biscuits for supper last night and breakfast this morning. OMG!!!! Your plum jelly is delicious. You have to sell that so that everyone can get a chance to taste that delicious jelly. It is divine!!!

We planted all of the trees when we got home. I'm so excited!!!!!

I plan on sitting outside and watching my trees today. Lol.

Thanks again Terri. Next time, I will bring goodies to YOU.

Welcome to La-yers!

Final hatch of gosling. I had set a total of 11 goose. They were the very first eggs of the season. 8 eggs were not fertile and only 3 eggs were fertile. All 3 fertile eggs hatched and all 3 babies are doing great. They will go in the brooder today. This was my very first time hatching goose eggs and it was a nightmare. This was FAR from hatching a chicken egg. OMG!!! Who knew.

Happy Easter everyone. I hope you all enjoy your day.

Just a couple of pics of the boys on their roost yesterday. Their tails are growing nicely.

Nice work Kountrygirl! The goslings are adorable and those pea tails are absolutely breathtaking!!

Happy Easter La-yers. A little ying & yang, ebony & ivory courtesy of my Alice and Elvira.

Hey all....didn't know if anyone would be interested, but I have a buddy in Plauncheville that is giving away 4 Mottled Bantam Cornish cockerals.
Here is a picture

If anyone is interested PM me and I'll give you his phone number. He probably won't have them long.

I have a couple of Pure Silkie cockerels one is black and one is white to give away to good homes. These are not fighting roosters. I am in New Iberia and you would have to come meet me some place in New Iberia to pick them up.

We Knew You could! We Knew You could! We Knew you Could ! We Knew you could! We Knew you could! OH, By the way, We Knew You Could! Congrats!!!

Celie,

Mealworms need to live in grain by-products. What you need under the rabbit cages are composting worms (as long as the area is protected from chickens). Composting worms, known as red wigglers live on top of the soil, not in it and are used in vermicomposting. They will turn that rabbit poo into great fertilizer in no time flat. You could make a shallow catch tray under the pens with a wire bottom and as the worms compost the poo the remnants would fall through the bottom for you.
Thanks, The rabbits are in a barn with a cement floor, away from the main flock. Only baby poults are in there, when they outgrow the brooder and are still too young to go into the poultry barn, with the adults. I will be looking for some red wigglers!
Congratulations on your hatch! Enjoy your new feathered friends!
X2, Congrats on all the new hatches and Welcome to all the new people! We have lots more member than our adjoining states do and a lot more fun! The more the better!!!

Did you ever find the earring? I would have locked every one of those geese up, until, one of them, coughed it up, Well, wrong end, LOL, but you know what I mean !!!!!
