"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

Some days are just not easy. No matter how much I want to cry, dig a hole in the garden and cover myself up......I have to try. Put on the boots and pull them up. So today I did just that. I got the Plum tree trimmed. It came out looking pretty nice and I didn't hurt myself in the process. Always a good thing. I also trimmed up a couple of other smaller things too. Soaking up some sun is always nice. The bumble bees/wood carver bees/honey bees are finally pollinating the Tomatillo plants and the worms have finally decided to leave them alone. So I think I will get a nice little crop all at once in a week or two. Enough to at least make a couple of jars of green salsa with them. YUM!

I am also cleaning some more beeswax in my makeshift solar oven. So low tech and hands off, lol! Coffee filters and a big piece of beveled glass can do amazing things.

If you bury yourself in the garden, the ants will get you.

I'm jealous...I didn't plant a garden this year and have been regretting it. Very neat with the cleaning of the beeswax. It just goes to show that you don't always need fancy gadgets.

Julie they are easier and will not have weeds atleast the first year if you put down the weed guard cloth first then you HAVE to get uninfested topsoils which usually means bought by the sack. As all dirt is going to have a certain amount of weed/grass seed in it the only way to get them out or kill them is to sterilize it (imagine that process in detail) Look on amazon and get the Square foot gardening book by Mel Bartholomew it is not very expensive and it will give all the info you need to grow just enough for you and plenty to put up every season or even twice a year of you do the fall stuffs.

That's exactly the book I read that made me decide to go with the raised beds! I checked it out of the library.

Good. I'm glad to know that. :thumbsup

There are from scratch recipes that I can send you that are truly homemade that are actual soapmaking with lye, oils etc.

Or there are "box" type recipes that you buy things like a bar of soap, borax, washing soda etc and combine in certain combinations. With this latter I think you just might as well buy laundry soap. LOL!

Does anyone make home made laundry detergent? I want to try but too lazy to get the list together and go buy the stuff?

Anyone make home made soap? There is a thread about home made soap on BYC.

I wake up in the night thinking of soap. Colors, shape, scents, herb additives etc. Soapmaking is an addiction.......for real. I even have one that has real banana, vanilla bean seeds, cream and essential oils for fragrance. My friends hubby loves it, haha! Now I want to make one with avocado and avocado oil for my face
