This is the fb page of the lady that I referred to earlier. She reported that the meeting went well and that the health dept report proved Krabby Karl to be a liar.

I believe there is also a video on her ustream of the town meeting. Its kind of hard to hear though unless you use headphones or earbuds.


One of Karls complaints is that her chickens reduce property value. lol

I'm glad her meeting went well. If we ever look for a new place, the first thing I do will check with the city hall on this kinds of issues.

Strange, my neighbors love my chickens because they have reduced the bug population. I have the only pond in the area so admittedly the bulk of the mosquitoes come from my back lot. I even started them in chickens, we now have four houses on our street that have them, all free range. One of my neighbors roosters seems to think he owns the middle of the road and you just slow down before hitting their house to make sure you don't hit him, but no complaints around here.

What kind of light do yours get? I have some that are several years old but have never fruited. I'm thinking they need to be getting more sunlight.

I Have some I just threw over the fence because they were taking over the area where I planted. They grew, I didn't even plant them. They are not in full sun and are fruiting. We had more rain here this year which helped. Also when I saw the first bloom I put green sand on them and some organic fertilizer and compost they are heavy feeders. If that doesn't work maybe they need divided. .Do you know what verity you have? P

WOW 1500 posts in a little over a month. Must have been an exciting August. I will have to go back and catch up.


I had 2 near fatal attempts this weekend. My dog has learned how to open the gate between my yard and my parents yard. When he's ready to go over and play with their dogs, he just goes. The bad part is that he also lets their dogs into my yard. Their mutt has been licking her chops at my chickens since I got them. She finally caught one this weekend. Luckily I was in the back yard when it happened. (I forgot to lock the gate after I passed through) She caught one after a valiant effort to get away and was carrying it by the neck. She put it down and was standing over her prize when I caught her collar. Luckily, the chicken escaped with only a few missing feathers and was quite confused by the whole event.

I will have to spend some time with the shock collar this weekend to dry to deter this behavior.


I will say this for those Barred Rocks from Ideal Poultry.... Those suckers are FAST! If it wouldn't have been for getting cornered, she would have never been caught.

My die back by December and with no xtra care come back twice as strong.. Many peeps chop them down knee high late fall. I used to. Now I leave the groups whole (ugly thru winter) and get fruit each year when they hit 12 feet. It ripens about October.

Do they live through the winter and fruit here in the center of the state? I've tried a few varieties and they never make it through the coldest part of the winter.

I wonder if those trees have male and female.....

I transplanted mine from an old homestead up the road. The lady died & had only a niece who sold the property. I saw the realtor & stopped & asked if I could have the banana trees & he said sure. I have seen them there my whole life & seen them fruiting. No idea what kind though.

They are trying to stop the spread of HPV, so many different strains that they just can't, but this gardisil is waaaay to new to be dosing everyone. HPV is very transmittalble and especially amoung the young with less hygiene awareness (every the cleanest people can catch it tho) It leads to cancers and people freak out and get shots. Boys are carriers, even tho its the girls that generally get the worst of it treating the girls and not the boys ends up being a wicked circle.
"protection of the treated herd" is what many non-vaccinated kids have. If everyone around is vaccinated an outbreak of long past disease is less likely.
If everyone jumps on board of NOT vaccinating the kids...well then the "herd" is at risk of some pretty devastating disease outbreaks that a lot of kids don't live thru...not just fevers and flu
I don't vaccinate with flu vaccines nor gardisil or tetnis. (tetnis shots should be after a metal injury/tattoo or select other events, not more than once a decade but people pile them on like it's a save all)
I think its so hard to read the dumb flyer they give you and really really comprehend the log term issues, we here at my house, always seem to be the 5% ('cept for powerball!) And then reading up on them is down right scary...Im ok tho, so with informed decisions to our best ability I think our kids will be ok too .

This has been depressing conversation the last day or so.  It's getting so that you will have to grow and process your own everything, to ensure that it's even remotely safe to eat!  I think "mother nature" is being messed with way too much. 

My latest rant:

When my 12 year old BOY went in for his "well check", they wanted to give him the vaccine GARDASIL!!!!!  It's CRAZY!!!!! 
What the H*LL?!!??!!  UMMM...he's a BOY...!!!!!!!!!  One of my friends is very "conspiracy theory" about things, and I've always kind of teased her about it, however, she said that the "reactions" to the vaccine were getting too unfavorable and so to change that, they opened it up to boys too.  It doubled their "base".  I looked into it, and she was right!!!  It's scary!!!      

The things that "they" want us to blindly consume and give our children is very scary!!!!

Worse Mosquitos from China?? Has anything good come over here from China?? Really. Poison Sheetrock, poison pet food, poison infant formula, killer Mosquitos, poison toys...think maybe we should quit importing from China?? Sorry, don't mean to be controversial. Just really wonder.

What, you mean you want Americans to go back to work??? You are not being controversial, you are being realistic! Creating more work here will put more people to work, who will then spend more money, where in turn will create more work to spend more money and in turn effectively lower the costs and raise the value of the dollar. Now, you know our government can't afford for us to come out of effective poverty. Hence, them trying to convince everyone that raising, growing, and canning our own food is not as safe as their USDA approved poison that keeps getting everyone sick.
