"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

On one of the other threads they have me researching health benefits of silkies. Apparently they are a health fad now with nothing proven. I can't see all that work for such a tiny bird in a stew pot. I'll leave them as pets and great broodies.

It was on dr. Oz a while back about eating black foods having health benefits, I can't remenber what the benefits are. The guest talked about black rice some other black food plus black chicken. He was showing a black Swedish chicken the skin was black I can't remember if the meat was. something good in whatever makes these foods black.

Wow, he sure does know how to get things to sell. All the looking that I have done says the only thing proven is that they have twice the antioxidant carnosine than regular birds (same as turkey). I haven't seen a single Dr. Oz show but every time I see a new fad coming out someone says it was on that show.

No! I didn't mean EAT!! The rule in our house is "You can't eat something you name". This is why Horn Don Harry is going to our framer's "freezer camp", not ours.
You should have known there was a problem when you named him horn dog harry. I say keep him for the entertainment if nothing else, I love hearing about his antics.

That show was 3 years ago. Slow fad. I haven't watched in a long time. My local vitamin store told me once it's on his show they sell out.

If you've got two hutches now, does this mean you can get another rabbit?

I have a small extra hutch. I was told to hold onto it in case I ever need to isolate one. Btw, I took Ginger and Lela to get fixed at lsu vet school. We recently found out Ginger is a boy, but we were very surprised to find out Lela is too!! Lol. Hahaha. That rabbit is 5 months old and had been to the vet 2 times. Lol. I never looked bec I was so sure he was a she. I was going to rename him to Lee, but figured, what the heck, he's fixed, I think he will just be Lela. Lol

Harvey is a year old when he snuggles sometimes he lays on his back........Uhm.....well he has some big you know whats. Lol We figured we would get him fixed if he started getting territorial or if we got him a girlfriend. But he is so sweet! I wonder if he would not be so nice to us if he had a girlfriend. I don't think I want to chance it.

Horn Dog Harry (who's soon to be headed to freezer camp) was too rough with my golden lace Polish (Stinker) and left a bare spot on her lower back, near tail. Now, the others are picking at the "white" of her skin and getting more feathers. What do I need to do? I've been putting lanolin on it. The skin isn't broken. Do I need to separate her completely? She would be so upset. HELP!?!
Thanks.

I always spray Blue Kote on them - something about the purple color makes the others leave them alone.

I've been leaving it at room temp with 12hr feedings. Of course I have to use it every couple of days or it gets to be a lot. I am going to refrigerate though if we aren't going to use it for awhile. Today I'm thinking sourdough sweet potato waffles. Those would be nice to pull out of the freezer and toast on a school morning. Let us know how your experiments go.
I had some going a couple years ago, not quite the same recipe. I used to refrigerate it in between using it, since I only get to make bread or whatever on the weekend.
