"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

Ah, rant time! I am so upset right now! A few weeks ago my sister-in-law told me she was getting a new puppy, and I reminded her of the dog that had parvo all over her property less than a year ago. She told me she remembered and wasn't bringing the puppy home until it had ALL of its shots. That made me feel better. The puppy came to her home yesterday and I thought it was small, chihuahua puppy sized, but I didn't know how old the puppy was and assumed it must have been old enough to get its shots and didn't worry about it. Today I just discovered the puppy is only just 6 weeks old, and hasn't had a single shot. She thinks not bringing it outside will keep her safe... but if you know parvo you know it can be carried on clothes and shoes from outside, like the shoe she gave the puppy to chew on for example! That's another thing. I tried to tell her you CANNOT teach a puppy to eat a shoe and expect it to NOT eat the shoes you don't want eaten but got totally blown off. So this tiny puppy is completely exposed to parvo with no vaccinations whatsoever.

That is just beyond horrible!

My 20quarts of sweet potatoes. Plain, salted, light syrup and dark syrup.

2 of the little hens are taking turns on the nest. The little Americauna I got from Terri was on the nest all day. Now this evening the Silkie its evidently taking a turn. I wonder how this will end up working out.. ....

How do you do your light syrup?
Those lavendar Ams are the broodiest things I'ver seen!

Parvo stays in the soil for 7 years! You are right, it can be brought in by shoes and clothes. I have had a parvo problem once at a house that I bought that was abandoned for years prior so I had no clue and the adult dogs that I adopted were supposed to be vaccinated (paid for it) but weren't. I have found that concentrated liquid baby formula helps them come threw it but is no guarantee. Some people just have a little rattle in their heads and there is nothing you can do about it. If that puppy survives the parvo problem she will most likely be looking for a new home for it because of the shoe chewing problem. Most people treat their pets like kids but don't truly understand that they are learning like a 2 year old child.

Good morning everyone. I hoipe that everone had a great weekend. I went to Lowe's to lok for canning jars but forgot about them because I needed to buy some mini blinds and have them cut for a window. I"ll try back during the week.

I did stumble across a few deals this weekend at the Dollar General Store. I had been looking for throw pillos for my couch for about a year. I needed the perfect color because of the color of my couch and I found exactly what I had been looking for. When you walk in the store, they have their clearance rack right there, so you can't miss anything. When I saw the colored throw pillows, the heavens opened up and the Chariots of Fire song began playing in surround sound throughout the store. I quickly walked over to the clearance rack and looked for the clearance tag but I didn't see one but did see the sign that indicates if the original price is XXXX amount, then the sale price would be XXX amount sign. However, the $8.00 price was not listed on the sign . So, I took the pillow and brought it to the cash register and had the cashier scan it. The original price was $8.00 but I knew it wasn't $8.00 but thought it would be at least half off which would have made it $4.00 but was hoping for a lower pice. So as the cashier scanned the throw pillow, my heart was racing and pumping full speed and I held my breath in hopes that I could afford to buy all 13 pillows. Well to my surprise, it was my lucky day. After 1 year of looking and waiting and waiting and waiting some more, to find the perfect colored throw pillows for my couch, my wait was over. The pillow scanned at $1.10. :celebrate :weee :ya

I was speechless. I could not believe it. The cashier asked me did I want the pillow. I told him, NO, I wanted ALL OF THE PILLOWS ! :lau I filled 2 baskets up with all 13 pillows.

For some reason or another, Dollar General had all kinda stuff on sale. I use the ALL liquid detergent with no perfums or dyes. They had it on sale for $3.50. Regular price is $5.00. I had 3 coupons for $1.00 off, so I bought some for $2.50 each.

So, I was able to find a few things this weekend. I hope to find more stuff next weekend.

I use the no dye or chemical clothes soap too even at Sam's it's pricey. Do you like the Dollar General soap? And where can you get the coupons?

Love the pillows. Those are my colors too.

I have never tried the Dollar General soap before. Is it pretty good? I get coupons from people who clip them for me. I'm too cheap to buy the Sunday paper because that costs money, so people clip the coupons for me and give them to me. I am also signed up to received weekly emails from different coupons sites.

Good morning La-yers! BEAUTIFUL fall morning! Cool and not a single cloud in the sky! I’m sitting here at my desk wishing I had a hot butter biscuit with a piece of bacon in it. I don’t know what it is about cool mornings that makes me crave biscuits & bacon!

My boss is off today, lucky her – so I’m having a quiet work day (for a change). Think I’ll soak some beans tonight & fire up the crockpot tomorrow!

Lol! We brought our lop Henry inside last night while we rearranged his living arrangements.
He met our cat...we were nervous of the cat harming him at 1st, cats big, bunny is little...he chased that cat around the couch with zero fear trying to hump her! Then he caught her and attempted and she jumped to higher ground (fireplace mantle)! Omg we could hardly stop laughing, I had to video him taking off on hardwood floors with no traction trying to get some kitty!
Equal opportunity bunny... wouldn't the politicians be so proud....

I found this great large bird house in the road side trash. Just needed a small roof repair. I love it. It's in the chicken yard now.

I said that on the first cool sunny days I would start building the new chicken shelter. Well, that would be this week. We'll have a week of perfect weather. Yea!! Here is the current shelter and it's starting to rot and fall apart.

Here are the posts I showed you before I got on the side of the road.

So today I sawed them off and replaced the trim and caulked them and moved them outside to be ready to start construction this week.

I use purex dye and sent free. I bye from 2 sales once a year. Walgreens and Kroger put the 100 load on sale for $2.99 towards the end of the year. At Walgreens They give you points and store money for each so my price is $1.99 each. For Kroger sales, I price match at walmart because I don't have any here and print coupons for $1.00 off from several sites. Kroger puts both the 33 load and 100 load on sale in two different weeks for the same price. Near Christmas I look like I have more soap than I could ever use and by October the next year I am down to about 5. Some items you just have to stock up on when you can find a decent price.

I wish that we had Kroger. They always have great deal. Our Super 1 has the dye and scent free detergents once a year and it's $0.99. I usually get 2 cases. I just can't get into the "points" at Wawlgreens and CVS. If I don't see immediate savings/redcutions the the final price, it's a deal breaker for me. I agree in that you should stock up when you find a decent price. :)
