"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

Good morning La-yers! BEAUTIFUL fall morning! Cool and not a single cloud in the sky! I’m sitting here at my desk wishing I had a hot butter biscuit with a piece of bacon in it. I don’t know what it is about cool mornings that makes me crave biscuits & bacon!

My boss is off today, lucky her – so I’m having a quiet work day (for a change). Think I’ll soak some beans tonight & fire up the crockpot tomorrow! :drool
B & B sounds delicious. I was thinking about making a turkey chilli this week and freezing it.

Quiet days are always nice. Beans and cornbread sound nice, I think you just gave me my idea for dinner tonight.

How do you do your light syrup?
Those lavendar Ams are the broodiest things I'ver seen!

Morning!

In the light syrup I used 8 cups of water to 2 1/2 cups of brown sugar.

I made 17 1/2 pints of watermelon jam last night. My kids tasted it this morning. They say it tastes like a watermelon jolly rancher, but not as sweet. Kid approval is the best. They have no problem telling you if something sucks! Lol!

There are still 15 watermelons to get after. Plus squash and apples. I can deal with this cold weather if I can cook and warm the house back up.

Yes, I think it cold. Cold hands, warm heart. My heart must be on fire!

I wish that we had Kroger. They always have great deal. Our Super 1 has the dye and scent free detergents once a year and it's $0.99. I usually get 2 cases. I just can't get into the "points" at Wawlgreens and CVS. If I don't see immediate savings/redcutions the the final price, it's a deal breaker for me. I agree in that you should stock up when you find a decent price.

I cheat on the points. They give 5000 points per bottle for the sale and after 5000 points they print a "cash coupon" for you. I buy the first 4 in single transactions to get the $20 worth of "cash coupons" then I go get the rest and spend them on the final transactions. I only buy from them twice a year so it is the only way I can figure out to make it work. I wish I had a Kroger around here as well, until then it is price matching at Walmart.

Watermelon wine will warm you up.

After all my searching for the perfect propriety I have noticed 2 things: First, we have a lot of strange names for small villages. Second, some people just cracked their head on the price. I saw a listing last night for half a million...wait for it... It is a half acre unzoned country lot with no hookups, no house, no pad, no fencing, no nothing and it is in a flood zone. Plus, in order to buy it you have to build threw a particular company. They have pretty pictures of trees and grass but make you go all the way into the listing to find out price and size. I could understand that price in NYC across the street from central park, but here???
