"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

That is so interesting. Are you going to do it?
Not right away and I don't think I would need to do it on that scale. It would be really cool to try. But I have no idea what grains are available to me at a good price. I will think about it and do some checking. I don't see why you couldn't use the smaller buckets though. Since the grain only stays in the bottom few inches. And then there is the issue of that grains will sprout at what temps. They mentioned that the barley doesn't do well if it gets too hot. So that would take some experimenting. I will let the idea marinate for awhile.

I have always been intrigued by the nutritional benefits of sprouted grains for us. So this just adds to that.

I am thinking in terms of chickens, rabbits and ME!!

Thanks. I'll try that. They are the first ones to the scratch in the morning and they like the layer feed mixed with ACV and water. They run with the others for afternoon treats: banana, watermelon, grapes, tomatoes, etc. they are sort of "babies" in how they act, if that makes sense.

Yes that makes a lot of sense. Mine were very skittish when young. Their still young but once they started to lay they became a lot more friendly want to be around us all the time. I've sprouted seeds for my chickens Ron said they weren't going to eat it. I said that would be fine at lease their would be green in their yard. My first sprout was broccoli they gobbled it up. Right now William Sonoma has organic sprouting seeds on sale if there not sold out I think it was 3.99 for 3 big seed bags. look in the agrarian section I don't think you have to only use grains. You don't need to buy a sprouter. I would stay away from plastic unless BPA free. Pam

Have you ever noticed that, in the south...You can say ANYTHING you want about someone, as long as, you follow it up with "Bless her heart"!
An example: "She's such a b**ch...bless her heart"!
Pay attention the next time you hear people talk. I continue to be amazed at what people say, then follow it up with "Bless her heart"! I guess when you end a comment with those words, you are in the clear?
Just say in....

That was how proper southern women could say something rude and improper then "undo" the rudeness at the end thereby preserving their proper status. Lol

I decided to dive into one of the pumpkins. I cleaned it all out and trimmed out the stem and one bad spot. I put the pieces in the oven for about an hour and then took it out to cool. Peeled and cubed it came out to be 21lbs!!! One pumpkin!!! All the hens and even the chicks enjoyed picking through and nibbling on the inners :) I am very surprised at how juicy it is now once it is really cooking. I have never cooked this kind of pumpkin so I am curious to see how maybe some pumpkin butter would come out. BTW a GREAT tip that I came across just the other day.......to clean the inside of any type of fruit like this use a flat canning lid. I used a wide mouth one and the sharp edge worked like a DREAM! Fast too.
:drool I wonder what pumpkin wine tastes like? That would go well in a smoothie too.
