Yeah I'm not getting very many either I had a lot already molt but some just are starting and it looks like this will be an extra long molt time this year its never the same here, of course it always hits when folks want fresh eggs for the holiday baking season. I just send them on down to Wally world for their fresh daily made eggs there. They usually aren't happy about it either.

How bad is layer feed for chicks really? Mine are about 6 weeks old now and my big girls aren't taking to the food change real well. They have always refused oyster shell and aren't eating as much of the feed as they do when it is layer. I tried to give them yogurt because they love it and the entire flock lets the chicks eat as much of it as they want before they will even touch it. This has caused some well laid soft shelled eggs. I get my layer feed from the mill, but they don't have a chick or grower feed so I have to get that at TSC. This may be another reason for the dislike. Any ideas on how to get my hard shelled eggs back?

A friend and I were talking and we discussed dementia. I think that could be a contributor to what happened. I think it was too much for her to remember and she didn't want me to write anything down for her, so I"m not sure how well she can read. So to have to care for 300 animals may have been too much for her to deal with.
You have all kinda cool things over there (dehydrator). Pull that baby out and get to dehydrating!
I will have to put that on my Black Friday list. I don't think too many people will be looking for dehydrators but if so, I have some penned up steam that needs to be let out, so this will be perfect timing.
