"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

I am glad to hear this! I really think that in our house.....moving away from the commercial detergent type soaps has been a really good thing for all of us!

buggles I get most of mine from soaping supply companies. Some oils from the grocery store and Sams Club. Specialty items I HAVE to get from soaping supplies. Like Fragrance Oils. Its only my one daughter that can't use the FO so we make plenty of soap with different fragrances in them. One of my favorite is a dupe of BBW Japanese Cherry Blossom! Delicious!

Check out Soaping 101 classroom on youtube.

I have psoriasis and hypothyroid that leaves my skin so dry that even water or the wind makes it feel like it is on fire. Tar or steroid creams, soaps, and shampoos hurt like the dickens! Lemon makes a White Silk soap that has helped me. I have been using it for 5 days and things are bearable for me right now. I haven't felt bearable in decades! I am hopeful that it will at least make me a mild case instead of a severe one. Something to look into...

Do yourself a favor and get your brags apple cider vinegar water down 3 parts acv to one part distilled water. Before you shower put acv on for a couple of min. You can use straight if your having a bad outbreak. Then shower off. The soap I'm going to make for her has 2 special essential oils plus the top base oil is avocado high in fats, vitamins and minerals. Every oil in it has anti inflammatory property's . If the vinegar and lemons soap doesn't make your mild case a occasional outbreak let me know I'll send you a sample. If you like it I can give lemon the ingredients to make it for you . Pam

Always check recipes you might find in a book or online against a lye calculator. They make mistakes sometimes and some recipes in the first books I read had 0% super fat. SAP values of oils are estimates. Time of year, climate and region can cause this to vary and a lye heavy soap would be annoying to have to rebatch. All my recipes are now all my formulations so I don't have that to deal with though.

Tomorrow stain goes in my cutter! Woohoo!

Wouldn't that sting on broken skin?
I'm thinking the lemon juice is acidic like vinegar and burns my hands.

Yes it does more than you can imagine. It is an old trick for mild outbreaks to help it heal fast by stripping the layers of skin off. Psoriasis is caused by the immune system attacking and regrowing skin cells faster then they can fall off, this is where acv comes in. With a severe outbreak it is too much to handle but your soap is helping me not be so severe. When you consider my skin always feels like new skin, an open wound, and covered by a scab all the time with splashes of fire, if your soap keeps going the way it is then I will try the acv to finish it off. I also have RA, go figure they go hand in hand. The only time I am not in bad pain is when I am really sick, my immune system is too busy with that to hurt me. It's really a pick your poison game, if a short while of pain gives relief then it may be worth it.

Thank you, but such is life we all have problems. On the bright side my entire family has super strong immune systems. I have already started my kids on the soap, they are young and only have small outbreaks now. They love it too. Soon I will get my mother on it, she is starting to get worse again. She is one of those people that just deals with anything until a treatment is proven in someone else first. I agree that all the extra additives in things nowadays makes everything worse.

Maybe on a open cut. The reason acv is pretty much a cure all is it has enzymes, organic acids and vitamins. It naturally adjust your ph. The Soap my PT uses has a acv wash for psoriasis too. She and her clients with psoriasis highly recommend the soap and the vinegar wash. Acv is the 1st ingredient, then aloe,10 different essential oils,5 extracts, and B5. It is used instead of steroids, coal tar, and salicylic acid.I recommend acv b/c its cheaper than buying the wash. Another thought is to mix it with aloe. Any one interested in these products let me know I'll give you the web site.

As with all things if your psoriasis is scratched to open wounds I think you would be under a Dr's care. My P T is some one who has tried all traditional cure's with little to no success. I would use common sense. I would test patch a small area.Pam

It itches and I am really bad about scratching. My mother still smacks my hands every time I am near her and she catches me scratching. Tried just about everything the Dr suggested, just pain, little to no help on the problem. I never thought about mixing it with aloe. Does it not neutralize the acv? Come to think about it, my mom used to put aloe on me a lot when I was young, I always thought it was because of sunburns. She doesn't use it anymore, I'll have to ask why.
