The Saints? Like Saint Mary or Saint Nicholas?

Only sport thing I really look forward to is the Triple Crown. I do watch *some* football so I can hold up my end of conversation at work with some people who are fan-atics. And we back the Pack to the extent we bother to find out if they won or lost and do watch a bit of them once in a while. Mostly we watch PBS and MeTV, Antiques Roadshow & the evening news. If we bother to turn the set on.

I don't actually live in Louisiana...

I live in Alabama. I originally stumbled on this thread when I was looking for something else and being drawn in by the conversations, information and stories. When I saw manuka oil being mentioned I couldn't help but comment. I also read/follow the Alabama thread, but this one is far more active.

And thank you everyone for the warm welcome.
aww we will convey honorary La-yer membership on you! We DO "pass a good time" here. As well as wine & chocolate on occasion!

I just recently began enjoying the horse racing. I love watching those beautiful horses running. :love

I'm not from New Orleans, so I'm not attached to the Saints. Same as me not being a LSU Graduate, so I'm not attached to LSU either. A LOT of people are die hard LSU fans and I don't get it. They didn't graduate from the school, so I don't understand the love for LSU. :idunno

I love PBS as well Terri, in addition to my other Law & Order and Snapped shows. I also prefer History and Science channels, which is why I was tuned in to see Bonnie & Clyde (since their last stop was in North Louisiana where they were killed). Two of my fav subjects in school were History and Science. I do enjoy watching baseball but I don't have a favorite team. I just know a few guys that play/played professional baseball.

I liked the races too! Ron and I both like history channel, discovery, and PBS.

Thanks guys. I actually had never thought about needing another RIR. But most old sayings come from the barnyard and there is one : "birds of a feather flock together. ". And she is my only RIR. I just thought the others flock together bec I got them together. So, at this point I am so in violation, maybe one more. Do I get a baby or adult RIR? If I dare push my luck even more.

I would try to find one around 4 months still young but old enough not to be mothered. Pam

I really started liking the Saints when Drew Brees and Payten joined. I like the people they gathered for the team. They seem like a group of guys with CHARACTER. Seems like they are good role models, which is something that I think many young people NEED these days, because so many are not getting it at home.
My FAVORITE player is #80 Jimmy Graham. I have never owned a sports jersey until #80. If you google his name, he has an UNBELIEVABLE story. With his childhood, he had EVERY excuse to "turn out bad"...but he went a different route and is AMAZING!!!! He now mentors young boys/men who had childhoods that could make you cry. #80 Jimmy Graham is one of those stories that you hear and really touches your heart. As a mother, I can't imagine a child going through what he has. GOOGLE him! He also has a website www.thejimmygraham.com , however, it was a new story and interview about him and his upbringing that made me a huge fan!!
Rant done...sorry, I feel very strong about "his story".......:duc

Does anyone have suggestions about white egg laying breeds for beginners? I don't have any white egg layers (don't want any) but someone I am helping get started wants a few and doesn't know what breeds lay them.

Thank you very much! I feel honored! Every time that I have been to Louisiana I have always felt welcomed and enjoyed myself immensely. Last time I was visiting the parents of family friends somewhere between Carencro and Opelousas and they went overboard. One thing that stands out to me was the trip to the local butchery/deli where I had to try the pork chop sandwich and the boudin. Both were fantastic!

Hi everybody,
You guys just crack me up. So much joy in this site and I've just found you. I live 20 miles east of Shreveport. Anybody out there close to me? Haughton. I'm so totally new that I haven't even ordered my chicks yet. Saving my money and preparing though. I plan on ordering 25 chicks in late January. I'll have my hoop coop ready by then. I do have my brooder set up. I want to get white's even though they are a predator problem. White Dorkings, Delawares, Light Sussex. (and maybe a black frizzle cochin bantam.) Nothing like staying on target.

Ron, I've was thinking of you and your Saints. My SIL is a Asst Coordinator ( the money man for donations for football team) for Calvary Baptist Academy in Shreveport and he's leaving Wed for the Dome in New Orleans for the play offs. Now you talk about football crazy. Six months of the year he only opens his mouth to talk football. He's one of the good guys. Love him.
I live with my daughter Aimee , SIL Clint and grandson AJ. We moved to a couple of acres last year and I have the room for a big garden and chickens. And I have never been happier. I never thought I would be so enthralled with chickens. But y'all understand, don't you?
Aimee was a corporate employee at a local hospital for 12 years when we decided to start thinking about moving. She found a new passion and it changed her life totally. She opened Haughton Dog Grooming and Boarding and man, she has never looked back. Adores it. Well, I've rambled enough. Nice to meet everybody. Linda
