"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

Started in Georgia about 300 years ago, but there is indication they came south along the coast to have been on the continent 350 years. Arriving between 1650-1675. I have a family history. My family left Georgia about 200 years ago, thou Alabama & Louisiana then up to Arkansas, then Kansas, then on North. We were witness to the trail of tears. Neighbors to the Civilized Tribes of Georga. I have 1 famous ansester that was one of General E Lee's Generals, ether a brigadier or lieut. Gen., I can not rember his name, it started with an F if I remember right. I need to ask my brother, he has been researching our family.

I'm 67, not afraid to move and start over, for some reason the only men that are not "afraid" of me are southerners. When men find out I can hunt, field dress and processes a dear, make a snare, can fish, make a fire in the rain, and have a few other skills their man hood is threatened. {I do not have to have a man to be happy, I'm lucky. It would be nice. So the old farts of Louisiana are safe.}

I do not know why but southern seem men actually like it. Maybe holding down the fort while they are gone. When I move I need to be able to have my garden, chickens, maybe a few goats. A place where can hunt and fish near my new home. I also want sweet meat dear. Not ones living on pine needles an sour brush, but sweet brush, and other sweet browsing. I used to hunt only one area, because the sweet venison. Bottom land with an abandoned apple orchard.

I really need to come home. Arizona is dry, oven hot, tarrable fishing and hunting close to home. Arizona has it all, but you have to travel a lot. I just do not belong here. Only friends are BYC, nothing in common with my neighbors.

Wild boar is something else I like to hunt, and prepared correctly, not to remove the wild taste but tame it, (what goes in make a difference), then slow cooked with the right rub. You have to know were the beast came from, handle each one differently. I'm sure I will find people there to help me to learn locale boar, and rabbit. There Beasties I've never had I would love to try, squirrel is one of them. Don't get me started on crawfish, and the verity of fish available.

Welcome to the La-yers . Around here most the people I know that trap boar take them home put the in a pen and fatten them up for a while before processing .you'll have no problem finding them they are abundant most deer hunters find them in the same areas. As for rabbit I see them in my yard all the time. Squirrel are abundant One in my yard meant death by electric fence.I live close to lake Pontchatrain. It gets hot here too. An high humidity . We are called sportsmans paradise . What kind of chickens do you have? You'll want to live outside most city limits if you want more than 4 or have a rooster. Good luck with your move. Pam

Pan, thank you. I need to consent rate on an area. I do best with high humidity, would have to readjust to the different type of heat. I lived on a 25' sailboat for 8-1/2 months and in a tent for about 4 months or more. It was to expensive living in a tent. I had to stay at parks, for several good reasons. I'm alone, I have a dog that is a crunchy snack for a coyote or bear, and I wish to not put myself in a situation I may have to shot some one or some thing. It just could/would not work out right. If two legs I would have a mess, if 4 legs and over 300#, hairy and bad breath, if it doesn't go down with one shot, I will have only ****** it off.

I have 12 girls, 1 Naked Neck, 2 EE, 2 Plymouth Barred Rocks, 1 Wyndote, 1 RIR, 1 Production Red, 1 Minorca, 1 Leghorn, 1 partrage barred rock, 1 BO. My Orpintopn is broody, so I got some eggs from friends, I think most of them will hatch. Its cold here in the winter. I hope they will be ok.

I was wondering why you hadn't been on line. Glad everything went fine. When we go on vacation I rent pet friendly homes or hotels. My Pom and my cat that passed a while back always came with us. I'm blessed with a neighbor that takes care of the rest. We take care of hers when they go on vacation. Better luck next time on the football. Pam

PM their names. I would really like to go see my friend in SC sometime, so I might use one of them. Thanks for the tip. Would have to come 2x a day, but I am near LSU.

Sounds like you need to be back in LA. Good luck. Welcome!!

Thanks, I plan to, I am waiting. My mom is 97, and falling. Our family is caring for her 24/7. We even have camera's in her room so we can look in any time and see her. She sleeps a lot now. She still has her mind mostly. Has a little problem rembering. She was in the hospital for 4 days, one of us were with her at all times. Now we have home Hospes helping us. She had us promise the next time when/if she collapse, not the call 911. Just make her comfortable.

It is my chose to stay close to my mom.

In the mean time I am looking for a home. I need not much, I'm limited financially. I do own my home. I need the security of my own home. I need to figure of what I can get, and make the move.

Of course, what you can get depends on the area. City (not so good for animals), town or country. It is possible to find good homes at reasonable costs here. Don't know what your home costs are there comparatively.
