I will confess, excluding insects..... I have never done it before.

My husband has always been the one to do the deed. I will if I have to, but I haven't so far.

My 3 Appenzellar Spitzhauben girls have gotten big enough to join my main flock now so I introduced them today and it went very smoothly. My rooster was his typical self "Heeeeyyy Baby." I was hoping to have a rooster but all 3 turned out to be pullets, which could be far worse. For now I think sultan/spitzhauben crosses will be lovely when they start to lay.

You should be proud of yourself.  :thumbsup

Thanks, I am very proud. I had killed lots of bottles and beer cans on the levee and lots of paper targets at the shooting range and lots of snakes out in the country, but with all my big talk that was it. I really hate possums. I hope I don't catch any coons. I know they are as bad or worse than possums, but they are cuter. I guess I have given the coyotes easy meals for two days.

Good job! Be proud. Not only did you get rid some vermin but you know now you CAN and choose not to as opposed to can't! Pretty soon won't need a trap! BaNG! Maybe night goggles....oooohhhh I want some night goggles lol
Ok. Big talker. I actually had never done the deed on a living creature except snakes, which, for me don't count. (Sorry to snake lovers, I just am terrified of all snakes). Anyway as you know I caught my second possum and my grandson is at the hunting camp. I wanted that possum dead so I could reset the trap. My daughter said I could go into the woods behind her house and do the deed where my grandson did it yesterday. I told my mom we were going to find out if I am all talk or not. She said to wait for my grandson to come back, but I said no, I want to know if I can kill a dirty evil chicken killer or not. Well, I am no longer all talk. I did the deed. It looked at me and hissed and showed those teeth and I said "bye bye chicken killer" and that was that. I wonder if this thread is having an effect on me? Hummmmmm

I have always believed I could kill an intruder. So I think it is the protection instinct. Protect myself, my family, my pets and my critters.

They are gorgeous! I LOVE them. I wanna eskimo kiss those poofy heads....

Bahahahaha. Night goggles. You know I get quite a vision with you and night goggles. Lol. Actually, not a bad idea since most of the predators, except hawks, are nocturnal.

I dont shoot birds of prey. Nor dogs I know
I flung a flip flop off the 2nd story porch one time at a hawk that snatched a chicken and couldn't get her poor fat butt off the ground but 2 feet maybe...I missed lol but my dog fetched my chicken back! Gun was right there as well as my crossbow and pellet gun...a opossum or coon wouldn't of even made it to the coop but it wasn't even a reaction to reach for a weapon when I saw it happening from above. But I flung that flip flop! I don't know why I throw shoes...its a problem.
And dogs. Dogs are predators when their owners let them loose. PS. I am not going to shoot hawks and dogs.
