I just looked at their web site. Only problem is cost of shipping. I may wind up ordering from them but I'm also looking for organic mills closer hoping the spipping is cheaper. Its still in the planning stages hopfully we can get it togeather soon. Pam

I completely agree with everyone. Out of the big cats you are far more likely to deal with bobcats then a puma but even then that's not going to be your biggest issue. You will have to worry most about nasty possums and coons - sometimes hawks and coyotes. Alligators won't be an issue AT ALL unless if you live right on the water or have a pond and don't have a fence. They certainly can't open a latched pen like a coon could. I lived close to alligator central for ages and loved to watch them but have never had any issues with them leaving their watery turf to bother me or my pets. There was one pond that always had a gator in it. I named them and enjoyed just seeing them. (I'm not crazy enough to feed a gator. That would be crueler then kind. There's no future but a gun for a human fed gator) My favorite was Ulysses. He was easily at least 14 feet long, maybe bigger. I wish I had a camera back then when he was there. Never seen one that size wild but him. He vanished when the area was highly flooded - probably to bigger waters. I don't know how that pond sustained him as it was. Can you believe people would fish and sometimes SWIM in his pond when he was king? Mostly people who didn't live area. Pulled over and tried to warn a family with two kids in there once, but the father was an a** and wouldn't listen when we tried to warn them there was a massive gator in there.

I'm pretty sure they didn't get eaten or we'd of heard of it....

So a behemoth of a gator in a comparatively small pond didn't even eat small children and grown idiots in his water. Don't sweat over alligators! This is one of his later (much smaller) replacements - Custard.

My Daughter & I took a picture of a bob cat that had been hit & killed by an automobile in St. Charles parish. After Katrina we showed the pic to the parish Ag man said that there had been a few bob cats spotted after the storm.

I've heard of bob cats being a problem. I have never seen one except on tv. Our bob cats are small compared to big cats. They are a little bigger than domestic cats. In some areas coyotes are on the rise. I haven't seen one in my area. You will have problems with opossums and raccoons more than anything else. Maybe a dog too. Pam

Hey, Pam. We have coyotes here. You can hear them at night. A few blocks from my house one walked across my daughter's front yard. So far have only caught 2 possums. Those were the first 2 days I set the trap. None since.

I wonder if that would work in the chicken coop for fire ants?  Would it be harmful to the chickens?
I would try clove oil mixed with water I wouldn't leave whole cloves they might try to eat them . You could take cloves and tape them in place or stick them on fly paper. you could stud them through your air fresher like people use to stud them in oranges. Don't mine me just brainstorming out loud. LOL!

Camfer oil is another insectid plant. Borox and diatomaceous earth also kills bugs such as ants and flees. I have used lice and mite powder I use for my girls for stinging black ants. Fire ants, I do not know. There nests will cover acres and their bombers are impossable. AZ black ants are nothing compared to the fire ants. Between Camfer, borox and Diatomaceous Earth I had been able to keep fire ants just at the edge of control. Adding clove sounds good.

Thats good hopefully two are the only ones around the coyotes might be eating the rest. I don't dought that their around I think Buck toping out at 100 lbs and Sadie only 70lbs but solid muscles are big deterants to coyotes and bobcats. I'll post better pic's of my shepards tomorrow. I'm looking for a good black and red to breed her to.Pam

I am not trying to be rude (not a people person), but does anyone know any Pentecostals or Mennonites? Both of those churches as well as LDS have their own co-op for organic items. If anyone does know someone from those churches it might be worth the while to ask if the higher up in the church have any suggestions on where to get feed from for non members. In many of the areas that I have lived in all three churches were big pushers for people converting to local and organic and would help even non members get access to buying them.

Here is a map and contact info for some of the organic feed mills that mother earth news has listed:

Thank you!! I didn't think of M E I have a few copies of them too.I ran out of the organic I feed them. The feed store was out till the new year and bought regular food well they didn't like it gave me the stink eye. Made me think of yours not likeing the food you changed yours to and they didn't like it.Made me think their like us they like the brand they grow up with.Pam
