"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

My chicken plucker is halfway done. I think my "builder" tried to re-invent the wheel and it took longer than I thought. But he said that he doesn't like to rush. He was going to use a motor from a grinder (and I asked him not to because I didn't think it was going to work but who am I to say what will and what won't work. I"m just a nobody who doesn't know nuttin' - yea right) and guess what? THE MOTOR DIDN'T WORK!!! There was NOT ENOUGH power to turn the plate. Who knew? Didn't I tell him that? But oh know. Crazy Julie doesn't know anything.

Speaking of meaties. I called around to several stores/meat markets to find out the price of broilers per pound but no one sells them. I thought all stores sold broilers. Does anyone know what store or meat market that sells broilers?

Whole foods has broilers, roasters, and cornish. Call they will answer your questions ask for meat Dept. or butcher. Their 4 to 5 lb dressed organic roasters ard 3.99 a lb. I think the regular dressed are 2.99 a lb. Pam

Thanks. I was so surprised that these meat departments didn't know what a broiler was. I had to explain it to them. :/

I just called and they said that their broilers are $2.99 a lb. You were absolutely correct. Thank you very much.

Fruit season is just around the corner especially if this year goes as quickly as last year did. Does anyone know of somewhere to buy large quantities of reasonably priced fruit? I would like to find a pick your own place but have had a hard time finding one. I am willing to travel the state to find locally grown. My farmers market disappointed me last year. The farmer I usually use had a bad year and only had oranges. Then, a new guy that I don't trust popped up out of nowhere selling everything $5.99 a pound and everything was from another state. In fact, I think he bought them from Walmart because every time Walmart had a fruit on sale that would be what he was selling that week. (Him selling fresh blueberries in October was really strange) Also, does anyone know someone that has elderberries on their propriety? I would love to bribe them to allow me to take some off of their hands. I wanted to make some more elderberry syrup this year as my stock is getting low and it is getting harder to find.
