"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

Opened my door, PORCH IS COVERED IN BLOOD! I mean it is dripped everywhere. I look around, it is my Clara! Sweetest hen I have... her longest toe, steadily dripping blood, and her exterior nail is hanging off. I have seen how much they bleed, and ya'll this is a lot of blood. Can't see how it has happened, and dont know if she will live.. but she is eating, and hoping around after I made her sit in a bucket for 3 hours in my washroom in the dark, so she wouldnt move around. I help it for over 20 minutes hoping to stop the blood.
THAT WAS MY FRIDAY......
Now, she is still weak, but alive. Wanted to go back out, so I let her. Seems healing, wary of others and quick movements from the Roos.... anyone ever had this injury happen before??

Guys, I have been going through so many tests and meds, I have to get over this depression, having had Medicare force me to change anti-depressants, 4 times in the last 3 months. Overnight tests for not enough oxygen reaching my blood when I sleep, staying awake more than 2 days of insomnia then sleeping for a day and a half, unable to wake, unless touched. I am scheduled for another pain clinic, where they want to put a devise in my back to block pain. I already tried the shock box wired to the pain points, but it did not work. I have a fantastic doctor, Dr. Winkler and she has finally convinced Medicare to pay for the one name brand antidepressant that I can't take the generic for (cost $550 month), so things are finally getting straightened out and will be going through another sleep study to appraise the positive air pressure for sleeping devise. They can't get more than 88% of the minimum oxygen level needed to the brain. I will explain more and pm everyone asap next week, since I start back on the right meds Monday. Thank you all for your concern and God Bless you!

Another note,
I am not sure if my culling 7 Roosters scared the absolute CRAP out of my hens.... OR, they are just not as tormented by too many males...BUT
Yesterday and today, I got 8 eggs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Today, two of the eggs I got I have never sen before... color or shape.... THEN I got a sky blue egg with brown spots!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WTH!!! I have never seen that before.... and I couldnt wash the spots off! This has been the coolest thing ever! One of the reasons I got the breeds I did, and blended them the ways I did was for the mat I processed yesterday and the nice quantity of eggs I saw today... I am SO APPRECIATIVE of my birdies......they got a whole bag of sunflower seeds and meal worms today I was so proud of them!
So, my question is, has anyone else noticed this? Hens more productive after culling the "too many" Roosters?

I haven't had this but have had one with broken toe. And some with injures I can't believe they lived through. Clean with betadine then put blue kote over open injuries . I would add antibiotic to water and separate to keep others from messing with her an drinking antibiotic . I would try to splint toes to keep dirt out. A cut straw or something.along those lines. Poor girl! I hope she gets better.

I bought the master green and sleep with me. The green is the best I've tasted can't wait to try the other tonight.
Haven't tried the master green. I will have to look for it next time. I went to the Paromi website and found even more flavors I want to try!
The sleep with me is great!

Have you tried one of the white cauterizing (spelling?) sticks? The kind they sell in the mens shaving isle?
Poor baby! I hope she continues to improve.

Hello, I am new here, sorry to here about your hen,I hope she gets well soon. Those pencils are called styptic pencils, they are antihemorrhagic-meaning that it stops bleeding. I don't know if is safe for chickens though. I saw this is for people from Louisiana. I live in Spearsville, near the Arkansas line. Just wanted to say hello to everybody!
