It had to be the Lemon Balm plant.  Have you ever smelled it?  It smells like Lemon Pledge!!!  I love to pinch off a leaf and crush it.  The smell is just lovely.

Yes I just bought some last week. I read that it repels Mosquitos so I want to try making natural repellent spray. Pam

She posted on her meat thread yesterday. She has been busy and can't wait until the broilers are done but hasn't processed them yet.

Still on squirrel - twirl watch the birds love it. I had them every day buy the flinger and not one squirrel anywhere. Maybe they are giving birth to another generation? Pam

P.S. Any one heard from kuntrygirl haven't noticed her here unless maybe she is processing?

They might be -- or else staying inside where it's warm. I haven't seen as many as I usually do.

Love the coop. It's really cute and I love the pull out trays in mine, too. A couple of suggestions before you put chickens in it. Make sure they are locked inside the house part at night. Predators will get under it and into the bottom area unless you predator proof it. Put it under a tree or other shade. In the summer the coop will be like an oven if the sun is beating down on it, even from the side. I ended up having to put up a tarp to block the side sun and turning on an osculating fan at night in the hottest part of summer. Chickens can die in our heat. I am putting together something cuter than this for the coming summer, but last summer I needed to throw together something to block the sun and cool off the chickens at night. They free range in a shaded area during the day, including spending a lot of time under the rabbit hutch.

Hubby surprised me with 6 from tractor supply when he stopped for some other stuff hehehe but the bin said "pullets" as did the staff lol by the looks of them they're red layers. Two look different than the other 4 "red layers", those 2 are striped with yellow stripes down their backs instead of all the same color like the others but they're still reddish on color so I'm assuming they're all red layer mix. Hubby asked what breed and one girl said pullet and the guy said new Hampshire reds. Tho, I doubt they'd be New Hampshires from what I read. Happy to have more layers growing tho! Mutts quelch my thirst after chick fever

I do have a brooder still waiting tho, Blue was doin great, snuggled up and cozy, then a few hours later she had one of the new chicks booted to a corner with the stink eye. I checked it and it had a bit of poo stuck but not bad, so I cleaned her up and sent her over to the rest. She seemed good and had all chicks tucked in when I left but won't know if Blue rejected it and will again, or of it was just lost...big brooder lol until I get home.
They told him chicks just got there not an hour before so maybe this one has somethin wrong and she knows before we do? Or she's got a timeout corner for a poopy bottom... :/

Buff sexlinks are the color of the lighter ones. I would think rodeiland reds are darker than the buff sexlinks. I'll look agin and see if I reconize any I have had ib the past. Pam

I put Thompson's water seal on one I had. I noticed it had a strong chemical smell for a couple of days, so probably would be good to do a couple of good coats now before you put chickens in it. I wish I had put more coats, the wood strips warped just a little. If I did it again, I would put a coat, let it dry a couple of days, then again as many times as needed.
