we are so gonna catch Wisconsin. lol
Oh my goodness. It has been FOREVER since I was on here. I was looking for info on feed mixes and remembered y'all were on here. Yeah, it's been that long!
Any who, I have 14 hens now and 1 roo. I am pretty sure all of the hens are laying now. I'm averaging 10-12 eggs a day now. Way more than we can eat. Maybe I should sale them instead of giving them away (which is still a good thing if someone needs them). But hey, if it can help pay for the feed and bedding, right? I started researching making my own feed yesterday, when I bought a new 50# bag of feed (I had bought one just the week before, went on a trip, came home and was just about out!) Needless to say, I was shocked.
Turns out, the culprit was the little girl and her friends "feeding" the chickens. By feeding, they threw cups of feed on the ground.I figured it out today after she checked for eggs and gave them a "snack". She has been told not to feed them anymore.![]()
So, do y'all mix your own feed or do you buy it? It seems kind of confusing to me.

Shouldn't be a problem -- they are finally getting decent weather there, so they're all outside to enjoy their 2 weeks of summer, while we, on the other hand, are moving inside to "hibernate" out of the heat & humidity!![]()
It's stopped raining here...I went OUTSIDE to slop around!!! It was either that or torture my kids some more. We ALL went outside!!Our competitive streak is pitiful! Lol![]()
