"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

Love colored eggs.
What kind do you have? Congrats.   I have my first ever eggs hatching.  These are Super Blue Egg Layers from dmrippy.   Two so far and a little pipping.  We'll see.  I've ordered another doz sending out tomorrow.    $12 +$12 shipping.  Coming from tn I think.  Packaging was outstanding.    :cd

Woohoo for pullet eggs! I got my first one from my young group today too

I did a check a couple of days ago on their pelvic bones and was like Woah! Eggs are coming SOON! And sure enough.

I'm hungry for chicken. Zero in the freezer and everyone's away at camp. I know what they are helping me do when they get back

PS. Good thing we have the rollout nest boxes. She managed to put a dent in the end of the egg. Can't imagine how it would have been if it hadn't rolled out away from her.

Does anyone know if larger snoods in month old turkey poults is indicative of gender? I have three with very prominent snoods, and three with tiny little bumps. But I also heard you can't sex them this young. This is my first time with turkeys. I'll see if I can post some photos from my phone for reference. I tried posting on the turkey thread but no one responded.

Also, it seems like one of my poults had its snood scalped. The meat is still there, but there is no fuzz or skin on it. It's not bleeding, just red, and I haven't noticed any of the other poults pecking it. Should I try to doctor it up, or leave it alone?

And one of the little:

There's very little difference, only a few centimeters, but I've been analyzing these poults very closely since they're my first ones. What do y'all think? I also heard that the toms loose their neck fuzz before the hens, so I may be on to something? Looking at the pictures above it appears to be so.

I think my garage chickens laid an egg!
I think thy are white rocks? Do white rocks lay white eggs? If not I'm not sure who did. I have mostly brown layer pullets not laying yet and a couple tinted layers...

Huh googled it and saw all Brown laying...hmmmm

Awwww I can't wait for Turkeys. They look great! Good job! I hear they're tricky as babies.
I don't know about sexing them. Kuntry probably would?

Its most likely a Leghorn hen. The White Plymouth rocks lay a brown egg and have a deeper body. Yay for eggs! I should post some pics of my White Rock hens so you can compare.
