I was wrong 13 went into lockdown and 11 hatched. I'm so excited. I reordered from DMRippy. This is so new I don't know if they are sex links. 7 yellow w/a couple of black dots and 4 black with white head spot. I'll also try feather sexing later. They are all drinking. I'm taking them out the the storeroom this pm because it's warmer. And I can moderate their heat. I reordered the doz for $12 + $12 shipping. She said she can send maybe a few extra 18? if I sent another $3 shipping. I flew like the wind to paypal. I still have 12 mix batch of basque and coronation sussex but I'm not anticipating such a smooth delivery next time. I threw out 3 sloshy ones. They are nine days behind

I'm a little sad today because my friend and mentor Beekissed from other threads got into a argument about fermented feed with another opinionated person and was banned. I don't expect her back. I'll miss her.

We order year round. A few of us have experienced losses in the last two weeks tho. it seems the heat can be too much for some.

I have someone wanting me to ship my 6 day old chicks. I have never shipped chicks before they are in kentucky and I live in Lake Charles, la. I am worried about shipping the babies has anyone ever done this and is it safe. I dont want to commit to it without getting some feedback.

I've never done it but when I have ordered them I was told that within three days the chicks are living off the yolk still. That is why they are so tiny when you get them. I admit I'm a newby when it comes to shipping and hatching in a bator. Pam

Attaching a piece of halved fruit securely helps gives chicks hydration for a day or two.

Loved all the posts with white chickens and eggs. They are all beautiful. Primrose still looks shabby, but her feathers were broken off so it will take time. She seems fine and her eggs are beautiful again.

Omg. I was looking out my kitchen window and saw one of the Black Stars pecking the neck of my blue Amercauna. But it wasn't mean bec the Amercauna was just standing there calmly allowing it. It was like she was being groomed. I went outside and the white Amercauna has no beard or muffs and it totally bare on her neck. There is no blood or injuries. Clearly after denuding the white one she was working on the blue one. She looks awful but I guess she will be cooler. I'm so glad I caught it red handed or I would think they had a disease. I'm in shock. I could coop them with prim but she "mean" pecks them. Maybe I'll put Prim in the dog kennel and the Amercaunas in Prim's coop. My chickens are mentally off. What happened? Hum? I'll post fotos tonight when they're sleepy, can't catch them right now and don't want to stress them

What! That makes me sad too. I have read a lot of her posts.

I was just telling my Dad the other day that it seems like these days people MUST have other agree with them. They just can't take it if someone has a difference of opinion. Different strokes for different folks. There is actually lots of different ways to raise chickens. And that's OK.
