"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

I'll do the beach with ya! You could break the drive up to five a day.

You are so sweet!!!! Thank you so much. But I'll tell you my traveling days are probably over. Besides the chickens, Aimee would not let me get on the road alone for nothing. I sold my car when I moved in. I never really need one.

Ok, remember when I said Aimee said don't buy any more chickens. Weeellll. I ordered 15 white plymouth rocks eggs for $25 shipped free. Good, not hatchery white rocks. I've been looking for them for 8-9 mo. Wade at RushLandPoultry.com. I ask who the line was. He said not hatchery. He's been raising them two years and bought several lines on BYC. I'm not planning on breeding. I just want to grow big rocks and eat or sell them. I've just got to get to the mailman before anyone notices. Then I hide in my room. The incubator has 18 SBEL's put in today. I'll make it work.

And this is all, really.

Hahahahaha. You're hatching some in a hidden incubator and more coming? That many chickens may be hard to hid. Poor sweetie, you'd think you were raising heroin.

My family are not chicken lovers. Don't understand the need to raise and eat it when it is soooooo cheap at the store. "Look at how hard you are working" I don't care. I gonna get what I want and let them shudder later. I'm very passionate about getting all of us away from store bought. I wish I could have done a garden.

Pam, I'm 67 and take medication for dementia. I have had great luck with it since I started taking it 18 mo ago. I can tell it's creeping up a little so they doubled the dosage. We'll see if it works. I still drive. But I'd not go hours out of town. Right now it's forgetting what I came into a room for. Have to think a minute. My memory has always been wretched.

Now it's a little more If I start repeating myself a lot, give me a little nudge. snicker

Aww I'm sorry about the Basques & Sussies -- hope your SBEL's do good for you!
Hope it rains here -- it's supposed to today, tomorrow, Thurs -- garden needs it!

I picked a couple dozen more cukes yesterday evening after work, then purple pod pole beans, then drove over to my cousin's house & picked a bucket of wild plums - they were all over the ground, brought those home--most of them were starting to split from the heat so I washed 'em, trimmed 'em, cooked 'em down & ended up with 8 cups of juice which is in the fridge waiting to be turned into jelly this weekend.

Today I have to transplant some garden salsa peppers into big pots when I get home.

I had a toad take up residence in a pot of begonias I have by the back door. I gave him a pot w/nothing but soil in it so he'd leave my begonias alone & quit uprooting them. Well, yesterday I noticed they were uprooted again so I put my hand in there & sure enough, there he was under the soil. I told him, "Your place is over here"! & picked him up & when I went to dig a hole in the empty pot to put him inside, another even bigger toad popped out! So I guess they think I am running a toad motel or something.
I have gotten my garden going so late this year that I just day before yesterday did my first batch of pickles. Way behind! And I absolutely love toads. We love to go out and watch ours eat June bugs.

We sure do!

I am planning to dehydrate figs this year so I can use them later on in breads and homemade fig newtons.

I wish we could grow melons here but our soil's wrong for them.

The satsuma tree is looking good and the meyer lemon tree, which lost ALL of its' leaves during the freezes, grew leaves back and now is blooming & starting to set tiny lemons, so I'm hopeful
I lost 2 of my citrus trees completely and the Meyer Lemon died way back to just 6 inches. But at least its still alive and growing. If you have more figs than you can use I will buy some from you.

I wouldn't notice. Lol. Seriously. If going into a room and forgetting why you went in there is a problem, then I have a problem.

That's so funny "fig rocks"

I could use the guidance. Lol. Mine are the everyday turnkey type. I would like other viraites but I need to get a hand on preserving and drying the one I have first. Ours is 20 years old and we have to get a latter to pick the top ones.
My favorite fig jam is with Orange zest, Orange Juice, minced up candied ginger and the chopped up figs, sugar and the pectin to make it gel. I usually just process the figs a bit with the food processor until they are still chunky, but not pureed. It is so yummy!

I have not noticed that. I go into a room and forget why to sometimes. The fact you have noticed and are not in denial tells me you have a good handel on things. If I ever notice I'll let you know but for now you seem fine to me. You are seeking help for yourself. Your doing a good job taking care of yourself. Keep doing new things and making yourself happy it helps slow progression. I think you have a great outlook on life. I'll give you a small nudge if you ever need it. Pam
