Black Stars were the ones doing it but since I've been giving them eggs everyday they seem to have stopped. No injuries or blood, just pecked up feathers. Prim is looking better.

Maybe they needed extra protien to cope with the heat. I bought a supplement feed you mix with there feed I can't remember the name but its for high stress and all the newbes and chicks gobbled it up. tomorrw I'll give you the name. Its bugs greens and high protien grain. its ultra something.

They are coming along nicely! They are going to be really pretty hens. Have you checked their pelvic bones to see if they have widened at all? If you check them once a week you will feel when they suddenly widen. Its not long after they widen out that mine start laying. And I have a peak at their vent now and then too

Thanks, I checked their pelvic and some are starting to widen and their vent is starting to enlarge, shouldn't be long. I had figured about the first half of August.

Hahaha Kimmy, this is the ballet outfit I made for Primrose. She wore it for pictures submitted for a contest and she won. The older ones on this thread experienced it with me, but thought you and the other newbies might enjoy seeing it. Lol

Tonight when I went to lock up the coops SnowWhite was sitting backwards on the nest. It was after 9:00 and she wSn't laying. I went to pet her and she ruffled all her feathers to stand up and made funny noises. I think I may have my first broody.

Need some ideas!!!! Got this ferret cage for free. Can be laid down, but plastic bottom is NOT secure at all. I want to put my pullets in it. Any ideas what to do with this thing?

Could you ziptie the bottom tight?

My drill and zip ties have helped repurpose old plastic totes with wire tops...
