I have always believed that she has a defective shell gland. Her eggs are a pretty green but there are regularly irregularities. Lumps and bumps and odd shapes. I think maybe she has an egg that just got hung up in her system higher up. Last night it wasn't down low. She rested, pooped and this morning was up and looking a good deal better. Those vitamins are a quick absorbing formula! I will probably give her another dose later and wash her fanny. Its a bit messy this morning. But she was picking looking for things on the ground is morning and walking around. What kind of egg issue? Is she bound?
She is a strong hen and not the nicest, so I won't be looking forward to washing her and I'm not going to soak her for any length of time. Its plenty warm outside. I am going to offer some specially mixed up food with higher calcium. But those vitamins should take care of any deficiency. But I don't think its our food regime really. She just has some kind of issue. To keep this from happening again I will just have to regularly make sure she gets supplemented with the vitamins or high cal food mix.
