"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

Hello everyone, I hope everyone has had a great day. i have been so busy trying to get things done before heading back to work Thursday, In AL 1st weekend home and Baton Rouge 2nd weekend and walking pnemonia in between, I got my nest box's finished, built an inclosure for all my EEs, finished my moving things around, I removed the partition from the grow up coop to make room for the DOMs, BSLs, and WLs to grow a bit more. I built a new auto feeder that i figured would hold 100 lbs of layer ration, i put a 100 in it and it likes 1/3rd being full, bet that will last
a couple weeks,

thats 100,lbs

Nest box's.No eggs yet but when the RSLs start laying they should know where to lay them. The BRs have been all over and in them.

The 5 EEs i got from Petrus + Lefty, who is behind the Roo in the middle.they were slinging dirt like nobodys business, this is the first time they have ever been on the ground.

All the rescue EEs moved to their new home, with all of them slinging dirt everywhere, it looked like someone cutting donuts in a dunebuggy, they were like TAZ.
My wife came out to help me move the EEs, afterwards we were laughing at how the kids were playing in the dirt, She bent over to see if she could pet a hen that was near, the hen avoided her, while Donna was still bent over looking at another hen, the one she tried to pet flew up and landed in the middle of her lower back and went to walking around and singing a song, Donna freaked out, I started calling her chicken lady because she calls me chicken man all the time, I took the hen and showed her how to hold it, she had it purring like a kitten in no time. My youngest son, age 22 who has had nothing to do with the chickens has one picked out and calls her Sally, I showed him how to catch and control the hens when we insatlled the nest box's, He said he was getting chicken fever untilone of the mean roosters went after him, he checked out on me after that.

Today I learned that the chickens can't reach inside the holes of the feeder very well. When I opened it up, they started eating so fast you would think they hadn't eaten in days!

Also, they all jumped on my back. My daughter thought it was the funniest thing ever. Then Rainbow got on my shoulder. I was like "OMG HOW COOL! Let me get a picture of this!" I started snapping like crazy. The top pic is her on my shoulder. The bottom pic is immediately after she pecked the contact lens RIGHT OUT OF MY EYE. Luckily, it landed right on my hand. It was more of a comical experience. At first I thought I had gone blind (my eyesight is HORRIBLE) until I remembered I was wearing contacts. Then I noticed it on my hand. Crazy!

That is your lesson learned for today. Your futures so bright, you gotta wear shades. At least if your chick sits on your shoulder.

Kimmy, I loved it bec you are now able to give advice about shoulder sitting and roofs and such. When Primrose was about 3or so weeks old she was sitting in my shoulder and pecked my eyeball. I felt an electric shock. Went to the eye doctor and it was ok but looked really bad for a while but I learned about shoulder sitting. Lol

I'll soon sent some for is of my new coop I'm building. It is looking the best yet.
Love your pony, Forgetful. Also love everything at your farm, so nice.
Terri, glad you got that snake, what kind was it? Glad you have new guineas.
On the coon, DEFINATELY need hardware cloth everywhere. Tarp are only good for shade over the hardware cloth. You'll always have losses until everything is covered with hardware cloth. Not meaning to be gross, but kill every coon or possum you catch. They will only find their way back otherwise. I say this from experience. Good luck.
