YES IT FINALLY HAPPENED! And I got it on video. And my 5 yo was right beside me. The egg was so warm we just cradled it in the morning chill. I used a few filters on the photo that distorted the color of the egg; it's actually very orange. We're saving it until there are enough for everyone.

That is too cool!!! Well at least it looks like your new babies will be good layers!

Don't some of the meat birds have white hens with large-ish combs like that?? (This is all a very new learning experience for me. Just making a guess.)

I have thoroughly enjoyed lurking here and have learned so much. I am very new to all of this, but it has been incredibly enjoyable so far. I currently have 3 RIR cockerels and 2 silkie chicks of unknown sex. Gotta get a big run built so I can get some LF hens soon.

Of course, have to build my silkies their own small pen, but they are only about 1 month old right now. Still feathering in.

Welcome to the newbies.
Pam, glad you got the possum, dead possum is a good possum.
Terri, I love seeing you post. Now, we need Kuntrygirl back and Cat Daddy. Mystre, keep coming back. Actually, if I looked back, we lost a lot of people.

Today was the first day we let our girls out into the yard (in my little tractor). They loved it!!!!!!

We ended up cutting a hole for a door and lining it with tape so that no one gets cut. I still cut my toe on a different part, though.

Now that the weather is cooler, we will probably be spending more time out there than before. I'll be out there with my yarn, with the baby playing in the grass and the big girl talking to the chickens. That is how we spent our afternoon today, at least.
