"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

A great idea.   I went online at Dollartree and ordered a case of red, and white egg baskets.  It cost $36 but I have 36 of them. I saved on postage by picking them up at a local Dollartree.   If I can start getting eggs again to sell I'll  sell 2 doz and the basket for $7.   And refill baskets for $5.  It's a thought.  I don't have enough layers yet, but soon hopefully.

I'm finding out that you think you have more than you need, after word gets out you don't have enough. Today I could have sold 10 more dozen if I had them.

That sounds so cute! I love ordering from dollartree.

I'm organizing this 5k and silent auction for work and while I think donations are up, the silent auction items are a little slim. So I'm thinking of making a wreath, and also putting in a dozen of my eggs in a ceramic tray. They may not go for huge money, but even little bits help.

Sorry for mixing work and chickens. ;) Everyone I talk to in person is very encouraging and supportive, so I'm not getting a lot of real opinions.

I'm looking at a tray like this:

400

If it's not going high, I'll just buy it back for myself. :D

That tray might be cheaper at Walmart.

Nothing is out of bounds on this thread. We're all interested in your life and what's going on. Mine is pretty dull this week, ALTHOUGH I am going to Jennifer's (Jipus5) wedding Saturday at 4 pm.

She's been tied up with the illness and passing of her guy's Dad. He died last week and missed the wedding.

What fun! Give her best wishes from ALL of the La-yers!

Nothing going on here but work & payroll (I do payroll for 60+ people every 2 weeks. Fun stuff).

Jim is almost done making my new chicken coop door! My old one has warped over the years so now I'll have a new sliding door that will lock up nice & tight at night!

Wish I could go to her wedding with you. Have a great time. Tell her we wish her all the best. Pam

Has anyone had to deal with rickets? I AM ALL EARS even the most absurd remedy will give me some ideas. I never had until now, and this poor little 10 week old splash orpington is soooooooo unhappy away from the flock. I can't blame him, but he would not survive a week or two outside of his cage. He can only walk for a short distance, then down he goes. I've been treating him for going on two weeks with Vitamin C D3 E and K powder supplement, crushed oyster shell, and grit. Nutri-drench for 5 straight days was like giving castor-oil to a 3 year old....Imagine that, I ended up with more on his face/feathers and me, than down his throat.

Guess my question is, DOES ANYONE know a better way to treat Rickets other than Nutri-drench or Water Soluble Powder Vitamin Supplement, and how long did it take for yours to recover, and/or did they recover?

I know this may be a question for the emergency medicine thread, but I found too many people are too opinionated, too critical, too argumentive and its not worth the hassle of dealing with the bickering back and forth of more than one opinion...So I would rather keep it to this thread where we don't have to worry about it...At least on this thread, everyone can speak their mind, give their opinion, and share their experience without argument as to whose right and whose wrong! All opinions count as far as I am concerned...

I did about 15 years ago I bought some baby ducks and some feed from our local feed mill and the time and my baby ducks started dying about a week later so I contacted my local state agricultural office and they came to my house and took two of the dead ducks and some of the feed and tested it and it did not have the calcium and other vitamin content that the label said it did. It didn’t help me but I never went back to that feed mill. Good feed matters. Good luck with that.
