"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

Here's my contribution for the silent auction! Six of my own RIW eggs and six duck eggs from my farming neighbor in that cute ceramic Rachel Ray holder that I found at Tuesday Morning for $9.99!! The tray alone is worth $20, so I'm going to start the bidding at $10.

I found a big clump of feathers in the yard when I went to lock up the coops and was fully expecting to be one short at head count. Everyone was present and tucked in, so I'll have to check in the morning to see who has a bald patch. It's one of the SS, or my barnyard pullet, based on color.

That looks very nice!

This Sunday (Nov. 2) @ O'Keefs feed store (the one by court house) is having chicken trade from 8:00am to 12:00pm husband wants me to whittle down to 15 hens and 1 rooster so I will be there. St. Paul's is good my friend's child goes there
A good chunk of our Sunday's are spent at Playmakers Indoor. Both of my boys are participating in their indoor flag football league. I'll have to see what time the games are this weekend. I'm afraid if I went to O'Keefs, I'd end up coming home with more chickens! That could push my husband over the edge.

I'll be there checking things out! I think it will be fun, I've never been a chicken swoop before and I think the kids will like it too! My husband is probably terrified I'll come home with more though! Lol!

LOL... I know it's like telling a gambler to only bring $20 's to the casino
It's good to keep them on their toes!! I've not been to a swap either. I had one very unpleasant experience at the Tractor Supply in Covington. They had a guy outside with the saddest looking roosters he was trying to sell. After that, I avoid any day they have animals there.

So, I'm a (nonpracticing) journalist by trade, which means I was trained to thrive and excel in the last minute. It also means I was taught to believe that work leading up to the last minute was generally wasted, because it wasn't up to date.

Even though the 5k is Saturday I haven't done a lick of work on it. I did, however, make a new oyster shell dispenser. :D

LOVE them! Are those light brahmas? What are the buff hens? And how often do you clean the poop?!

Wow this thread moves fast! Ye, I have two light Brahmas, they are beautiful and so friendly. Buff Orpingtons, a lot of them are looking raggedy with molt. They have about half an acre to roam on so the poop isn't terrible!
