They've never bothered our old "barn cat" Minou -- but she was here first so maybe they respect that. They are noisy & nosey & fearless (or maybe just *that*stupid; I've never quite figured that out) - but when they start cutting up, something's out there!

I ordered a dozen mixed eggs from J - bar farm. It included Isbar, blue copper Marans, Black Copper Marans, olive Egger that are Isbar over Marans, and sex linked Olive Eggers that were crested cream bars over Marans. The sex l linked OE didn't develop at all. I don't think they were fertile. And we only only got one of the 2 Isbar hatched.

Cute! I hope that huge egg isn't a double. I remember reading a thread and watching video from that lady that hatch. A double and had to help them hatch and was really stressful for her. I hope it's just a big egg.
 
I have already learned a few new tips from reading that New years hatch a long thread. I never can know enough to say I know it all! I think I enjoy learning more now than ever.

Except that is when I run across a super SNOTTY, KNOW IT ALL chicken witch! Ugh! Happened yesterday. Then I don't listen to a word they say, hahaha!!! :lau

I hate when people have their nose so high that they would drown with a sprinkle of rain. *off the soapbox now*

I had to help one of mine out of the shell. It was stuck way in a corner & all cramped up & after it sat there 10 hours, pipped, I slipped into the bator real fast & picked it partially open & put it back in. The next morning it was still in the same position & had gotten itself wedged AGAIN so I took it out & peeled the shell off & put it back in to dry. There was still one piece of shell stuck to it's back but when it was dry several hours later when I came home for lunch I was able to simply flick it off w/my fingernail. You can't even tell which one it was now. I think it would be cool to hatch a double yolker!

I had a egg this week that looked like a double so I used it last night. Turned out just a hudge yolk. I'm glad your hatch turned out good. Good luck on this one too. Sometimes those peeps just want to argue I hit the bricks so to speak. Pam
 
Not a chicken thing but I just learned if you put a bee box with frames up in a tree,with lemon grass essential oil you can catch a sharp. Some of you know I've been trying to replace mine. So I'll be testing it out during swarm season. I'll let you know if it works. Pam

Awesome clutch of birds Cody, i like the roosts you made them, perfect size of rungs for them to set on, they are some lucky birds, chickens just come natural to some people and you are one of them.
